To find cheap flights, you need to do a little research. Start with popular sites, such as Expedia, Travelo Cheap Tickets, Hotwire or Priceline. Travel agencies can no longer compete with discount sites. You can also find a cheap airplane with search engines. Type something like "cheap flight tickets" and your destination.
I recently checked the fare from Tucson, Arizona to Traverse City, Michigan at the five sites mentioned above. Tickets range from $ 704 to $ 432 cheaper per site (and up to $ 500 more expensive). It doesn't matter which one is cheaper (oh, well, it was Expedia). It does not matter because you do not know every day which sites will find the cheapest flights. It is always changing
When searching, check at least three places. It could mean a $ 272 savings in the example above. Flight times were less than a minute, by the way, and food could be equally bad for all flights.
Find Cheap Flights According to Your Circumstances
Sometimes it is cheaper to buy two tickets. Very low rate from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Tucson, Arizona for $ 451 trips and return as I write this. More flexibility is a way to get cheaper flights. Look for different departure and return dates. Click on “2 or more connecting flights,” and then mark “anytime” to depart. If saving is not enough, you can always book first class, direct flights, whatever you like.
Buying in advance gains a good price. Less than a week is often expensive, though you can see in the mysterious area of air prices. Sometimes a “special last minute” is needed.
Apply for cheap flights. Priceline still has the "Design Your Price" feature. You make your bid, and the planes say yes or no, depending on whether they have empty seats to fill. The way to do this is to start looking for cheap tickets that you can find online, and then go for less money. If the request is denied, return to the website where you found the best deal and book it.
Package deals, where you pay for plane tickets and your hotel room, can sometimes save you money. Personally, I haven’t been lucky with this, but it doesn’t hurt to watch them.
Really Cheap Flights
I once boarded a bus from Michigan to Miami, and from there I flew to Ecuador. At that point, you had to save hundreds of dollars to spend 38 hours on the bus. Usually this will not save you much on domestic flights. For example, in the meantime, taking a bus from Traverse City to Detroit, and then flying to Los Angeles, will save about $ 70 (allowing a taxi ride to the airport) compared to a direct flight.
Some options are beyond the scope of this article. For example, courier planes can be very useful if you do not have a problem allowing the company to use your freight (you only get shipping). Then there are stops, last-minute deals, and other ways to get cheap flights.
