How to Exercise and Burn Fat on a Busy Schedule?
In my fitness business, I get the opportunity to talk to people from all walks of life about their health, fitness, and weight loss goals. Whether their goal is to lose weight, gain weight, stick to a diet or a plan, improve their cardiovascular health, or maintain their current fitness level they all have one common enemy — TIME. For many of us, the # 1 challenge to staying fit and / or losing weight is not exercise but being able to fit in with our busy exercise routine. So how do you do it? How do you balance family needs, work, important tasks, relationships, organizational responsibilities, and performance? I have found that there are five keys that will help you to incorporate a consistent exercise program into your busy life.
Commit to a specific plan If you fail to plan you plan to fail. Do not try to incorporate your exercise routine into your system without the consent or reason. Don't you think you're guilty? If you have ever said to yourself "I will run as soon as I have time", you have clearly violated this important principle. To prepare yourself for success, you will need to take the time to actually document your use of your weekly schedule. To be effective, you will need to follow your exercise program at least 3 days a week. Anything small will be a joke. Therefore, among all your appointments, to-do lists, etc., it should be a written plan for your weekly exercise program, so that you are never in the dark about when you are committed to going.
Take the weekend Take advantage of the fact that it only takes 3-5 days a week to combine effective exercise, producing results. One strategy to help you get rid of all the workouts on the weekends. One of the benefits of this action is that your schedule is flexible and is under your control at this time. Which also means that when the busy weekdays return, you will be obliged to work 1-3 days during the working week.
Keep your exercise a priority One of the biggest mistakes most people make when they plan their exercise program is to allow it to run smoothly on their schedule. Although things will come up from time to time that will make you reorganize the exercise you have planned, you should be careful to make sure that only the most important emergencies are allowed to take you out of your schedule temporarily. In the event that one of those important emergencies occurs and you are unable to get to work, reschedule yourself to do it the next day you may be available to do so. If your health, fitness, and weight-loss efforts are not a priority for you, then they certainly will not be for anyone else.
Enroll others in your goals Do not do this alone. Let the important people in your life know what you are doing. Spouse or romantic interests, parents, children, coworkers, and close friends often come in and help you meet your commitment to fitness or weight loss if you raise awareness and ask them to support you. Use this relationship to give up some of your regular responsibilities or allow you to change your appointments as you reorganize your workout routine. If one of them is exercising or trying to lose weight on his own, do not hesitate to build a companion plan with him as you continue with your program.
Do not drive yourself No matter who you are, there will be times in your workout routine when you will not be able to keep up the pace you would like because of external needs. Do not overreact when this happens. Remember that it is what you do consistently, not what you do in abundance, that really matters. Just make sure you get back into full gear as soon as possible and keep pushing forward, doing your best to avoid falling back again.
No matter what your goals for health, fitness, or weight loss, YOU CAN REMEMBER an active exercise program on your busy schedule and be incredibly successful in getting the results you want! To Your Best Body, Lawrence Cole
