Obesity is now called an epidemic in the healthcare community. In fact, it will soon be the leading cause of preventable deaths in the United States, even before smoking. No matter what we would like to believe, it is not just a magical solution to lose weight. In my opinion all we have to do is make our home a place without fuel. If we are hungry and start looking at cabinets and see for example a packet of crisps, it can be very difficult not to eat them. Our appetite for fast food can be very strong and our inner demons try and make us believe that one packet will not hurt. If that pack of crisps were not in the cupboard we would not be put in that tempting situation and we would not be able to eat them.

A few years ago, when I started to lose a lot of weight, I decided to take out all the food in the cupboards that I realized I should stop eating. I also eliminated certain beverages such as alcohol, which also contributed to my weight problem. I put all the food menus I had in the dustbin and tried to make it as difficult as possible to eat or drink anything I should not have.

At my weekly grocery store I bought more fruit and vegetables and was surprised that my taste buds started to change so quickly. I soon yearned to eat an apple as an example and gradually lost weight but it certainly started to lose weight.

After a few months, I reached my goal of happiness. My wife said that now I could start eating dried peanuts, which was one of my favorites. This may have been true but it could easily lead to a return to my old bad habits and weight problems. I decided to stick to the fruit and my cupboards did not yet have the food I liked to eat but which did not match my weight.
