Before beginning this article, I am sure that most of you reading this would have two questions in your mind: First, will there be enough writers to approach us for us to make publishing a means to earn money? And second, if we can publish a book with our smartphone / PC, why can’t the writers do it themselves? I got answers to these questions from Facebook groups of writers. Thousands of writers have finished their manuscripts and are waiting helplessly to get their books published! Now, we can begin.
PUBLISHING THROUGH KDP
KDP stands for Kindle Direct Publishing. Simply it means that publishing through KKindlee, the world’s most excellent platform to sell EBook. Many people still believe that we have to pay money to get our work publisheKindleough KKindle. Absolutely no! PublishiKindlerough KKindle is free of cost!
You need three things to get a book publisKindlehrough KKindle:
A PC/smartphone.
An Amazon account.
Edited manuscript in word format.
A cover page.
If you have the above perquisites with you, then publisKindlethrough KKindle is easy with the following steps:
Setup your kindle account.
If you have an Amazon account, you needn’t create a kindle account. But if you don’t have one, it’s easy to make one with your email account. After completing the report, they will ask you to fill in details in three sections: personal information, like your name, country, address, etc...(Better give the details of the writer. it doesn’t matter if you have created a kindle account with your email id) tax information, like tax identity number (PAN in INDIA) and bank details like account number, IFSC code, etc.… which is safe to share. Note that the complete information you enter should match what you have shared with the bKindleOr else, KKindle will deny your payment.
Enter your book’s details.
After successfully creating a kindle account, you will see a tab named ‘bookshelf’ where you can find the option to create an EBook ‘with a ‘+’ sign. Clicking on that, you will be led to a page where you have to enter the details regarding the EBook, such as the author’s name, the genre of the book, description of the book, etc.… there is one thing that you have to take care of while filling this page: keyword; don’t enter any promotional or misleading keyword to advertise the book (like the award-winning bestseller). This will lead to the rejection oKindler book by kindle. All other columns are easy to enter, and if you find it diffiKindleto answer, KKindle has provided hints near each column, written in blue color (most often it’s written as ‘why?’). Upload the document and cover.
After successfully saving the details, another page will be loaded to upload the manuscript and cover page. Save the edited manuscript (free of spelling and grammatical errors) in the device you are using and upload it to that website. Similarly, upload the cover page of an EBook that you have designed and saved on the device. If you want to develop a cover page of your design, the canvas is the best designing option. If you are not good at designing a cover page, try some methods provided by the website through the cover creator (find it as an option where you are asked to upload the cover page). After successfully uploading both, use the launch preview option to preview the book and save to continue.
Price your EBook.
As the third and final procedure, we will be asked which markets we expect the sales and how much price we would like to sell our book. The price should be between the ranges that they provide. You can choose the royalty plan according to the rights you reserve in the book. Also, don’t forget to enroll your book in KDP select. Publish the book after you have entered every mandatory data. Within three days, your text will be displayed for sale in the Amazon Kindle store, which you will notify through email.
After the book becomes available for sale, log in to the kindle account and look at the report tab to see the sales report of the book as a graph. Moreover, make use of the marketing optKindleprovided by kindle. When your sales earnings reach the threshold limit (or reach two months, whichever is earlier), the amount will be credited to the bank account.

KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) is a boon to the un-established writers to publish their books. It's free of cost, and nice features have made it more popular among writers, and I bet that it will soon become a social media platform where writers sell their thoughts!

Marketing of your book
Once your book gets published through KDP (after receiving the confirmation email, you can market your book through two price promotion methods mentioned in the ‘marketing tab.’ It is free of cost to run those promotions whereas the advertising and promotion option is expKindlee.
Note that KKindle will offer you low-cost advertising offers. From my experience, it is something of no use. If you are willing for a paid promotion, do it for a considerable amount on Amazon or Instagram.
The free price promotion techniques include free book promotion for five days and a countdown deal.
Free book promotion makes your book sold for five days without any cost; that means anybody can buy your book for free of charge where neither you nor Amazon gains anything for those five days.
Now, how does this benefit us? We can take our book to our loved ones and make them rate and comment on your work. This will optimize the searKindle your book in Kindle and become a reason for an unknown person to buy your book.
Countdown deals will have a psychological impact on the buyers. When a customer sees a 50% offer for just five days, he may feel that if he misses that chance, he will regret it later. Surrendering to such an internal force, they may buy your book. Psychology never lies!
