Can you believe it's been a year since the Nintendo Wii was released? In fact, at the time of writing, it has now been more than a year! Sounds like yesterday, doesn't it? Although the Wii has been out for over a year, it doesn't officially make it the oldest "next-gen". That place actually belongs to the Xbox 360, which by comparison, is more than two years old. The amazing thing about the Nintendo console is the undeniable success, and how quickly it reached. To give you an idea of the scale of its success, even though the Xbox 360 was released a year before the Wii, the Wii had officially approved its sale this year!
The success that this system has achieved so far, has never been seen. Even after more than a year, you will still have trouble finding this console in stores - After a whole year! As soon as the system is put on the store shelves, someone will snatch it right away! Due to the busy demand for the console, it may not seem practical to purchase the system yourself, unless you have no problem playing the potential “chase and catch” game. If you do, when you shop online with a popular video game system it might be your best bet to hold it. So, during the year, the Wii was in high demand, and there were no signs of a downturn. While this may not be good news for consumers who want to buy the program, it is certainly good news for consoles manufacturer, Nintendo.
Until recently, video games were usually mostly aimed at a “strong gamer”, leaving little room for those classic games that might entice people with little interest in video games to try. The good thing about the system though, is that it closes that gap. It includes both strong and regular players alike. Wii Games, a game integrated with the Nintendo console, moves your arms, and shakes your body. Instead of using sophisticated combination of buttons to play a game of tennis for example, with the Wii, all you need is a movement or swing of the controller, making it easy for people of all ages to enjoy.
Just because a Wii may seem easy to control doesn't mean you can't play complex games. The console offers titles for strong and regular players. Those who have played games for several years will quickly get used to titles such as Super Mario Galaxy, The Legend Of Zelda, Red Steel, Call Of Duty, and the list goes on. On the contrary, those new to the gaming scene will find fun in games like Wii Sports, Wii play, Big Brain Academy, Wii Fit, and the list goes on and on. If you look at the system software library, it is not difficult to see the variety of games, thus making it easier for consumers of all ages to find what they like.
The reason for the Wii's great success is that it has been able to reach more audiences than it used to play games. It has simple controls, but at the same time uses state-of-the-art technology. Available software extends beyond titles available to strong players only. It has games that can be played online at no additional cost. Most importantly, it is easy to use. It is these combinations, and more, that have made the Wii the most popular video game app you should have for more than a year.
