How to Download YouTube Videos on iPhone or iPad in 2025 (3 Easy Methods)

Ever come across an amazing YouTube video and wished you could save it offline in your iPhone gallery? Unfortunately, YouTube doesn’t offer a direct download option unless you have a Premium subscription or the creator permits it. But don’t worry—there’s a clever workaround! In this guide, we’ll show you a simple step-by-step method to effortlessly download YouTube videos to your iPhone.

How to Download YouTube Videos on iPhone Using a Shortcut

Siri Shortcuts is a powerful tool that allows you to automate tasks on your iPhone. Through the Shortcuts app, you can create custom shortcuts to simplify complex actions into a single tap or voice command. If creating a custom shortcut seems daunting, don't worry—I’ve included an iCloud link to a pre-made Shortcut that I use for downloading YouTube videos on my iPhone. Follow the steps below to get started:

  1. Install the Shortcut:
Download and install the YouTube Shorts Downloader shortcut on your iPhone. Despite the name, this Shortcut works for downloading both YouTube Shorts and regular videos.

  2. Open the YouTube App:
Launch the YouTube app and find the video you want to download on your iPhone.

  3. Share the Video:
Tap the Share button located below the video’s Subscribe button, then select the More (three horizontal dots) option.

  4. Run the Shortcut:
Scroll down and tap the YouTube Shorts Downloader option from the list.

  5. Grant Permissions:
When prompted, the Shortcut will ask for permissions. Tap Allow Once or Allow Always to proceed.

  6. Choose Video Resolution:
Select your preferred resolution from the options provided (up to 720p is supported).

  1. Complete the Download:
Wait for the download to finish, then select the Exit option.

  1. Access Your Downloaded Video:
The video will now be saved in your iPhone's Photos app library.

Download YouTube Videos on iPhone Using the YouTube App

The YouTube app allows you to download videos for offline viewing, but the feature has some limitations:

  • You can only download videos if the creator has enabled the download option.
  • Most videos are available in low resolution unless you subscribe to YouTube Premium, which offers HD downloads.

Here’s how to download YouTube videos using the app on your iPhone:

  1. Open the YouTube app and sign in to your account.
  2. Navigate to the video you want to download.
  3. Tap the Download button below the Subscribe button or next to the bell icon.
  4. Choose your preferred video quality and tap the blue Download button.
  5. Access your downloaded videos by tapping the Profile icon in the bottom-right corner and selecting the Downloads section.

This method keeps videos available for offline viewing directly within the YouTube app.

How to Download YouTube Videos on iPhone Using Third-Party Websites

While third-party websites claim to enable YouTube video downloads, proceed cautiously as they may violate YouTube’s terms of service and often face restrictions over time. If you choose to use such websites, follow these steps:

  • Copy the link to the YouTube video you wish to download on your iPhone.
  • Open the Savefrom.net website or a similar platform in your preferred browser.
  • Paste the copied link into the designated field and tap the Download button.
  • Choose the desired video quality from the available options.
  • In the pop-up that appears, tap the Download button to start saving the video.

These are some of the simplest ways to download YouTube videos on an iPhone, though always prioritize safe and legitimate methods!
