Go there where you downloaded GTA 3 game file.
Right-click on GTA 3 – [FULL GAME] – PC – Highly Compressed and click on extract here
go inside the folder – GTA 3 – [FULL GAME] – PC – Highly Compressed and again go inside the folder – GTA 3 and first double click on – setup.bat like this.
wait for 1 – 2 minutes until complete file extraction.
Now before starting the game, must do this setting if you facing this problem – cannot find 640×480 video mode GTA 3.
So must tick the checkmark on – Run in 640×480 video resolution. and click on ok.
Now double click on gta3.exe and start the game inside your desktop or laptop.

Story.
Claude, or Fido - GTA III's protagonist has just robbed a bank with his girlfriend Catalina. While chasing her out of the bank she turns to him and says "Sorry babe, I'm an ambitious girl and you... You're just small-time.", then shoots him to leave him to die in an alley.
A short time later a police convoy is seen leaving Staunton Island and makes it's way across the bridge to Portland when the convoy is attacked and as a result, Claude is set free with a black man whose hands are messed up known as 8-Ball.
Claude then must take on jobs from local thugs and crime lords, working his way up through the ranks until he can get his revenge on everyone who stands in his way, including his former love, Catalina.
