HOW TO DESIGN YOUR HOME GARDEN

Now that we are into organic gardening, the first question is how to start, and there are tons of ways to do gardening, from pots to farming like hydroponics.

Some of the methods which I think are suitable for beginners are as follows:

Using pots well is the best way for beginners, as we all know you can change the position of plants if you like, move it to a new home if you ever change your house, comparatively investment is less, you can have different type of plants with other soil requirements. When you are using pots for the terrace garden, you must put bricks underneath the pots; this helps reduce the heat from the floor to reach the bank, and also, during the rainy season, this helps in drainage. You can also build stands for these, too, in which case you can ditch the bricks.

The second way that is suitable for beginners has raised garden bed arrangement. This method is perfect for older adults and people suffering from back and knee pain problems. Of course, the investment is high, and you need a lot of soil, fertilizers, manure, cocopeat, etc., to fill the raised garden bed. But by using this method, you can plant a lot more plants and thus increase our productivity; we must also consider that a pot will gradually get damaged over time. We have to buy new ones, but in the second method, that is not an issue; one more advantage of the raised garden method is collecting the drained water and reusing it for watering. If you are in a place where water availability is less, then this method is more suited for you now; for argument's sake, you can say we can collect drained water from pots, but the amount of money and time for such setup is not worth it.

The third method is somewhat new; it's called hydroponics. In this one, we replace the soil substrate with water, and the plants are either kept in floating materials like thermocol with holes, or the plants are kept in pipes with holes. Here nutrients are added to the water, and then the water is circulated; special fertilizers are used while using hydroponics. If you guys are not interested in using hydroponics fertilizers, then you can do aquaponics in which the fish excrement is used to fertilize plants, but we must also consider the quality of water too since there are live fish,

for example, if there is an ammonia spike or the aeration fails, all the fish could die. We must also know that the produce from aquaponics is less than hydroponics since we can add fertilizers according to plant requirements. Still, you will get fish as a crop in aquaponics, so I think both hydroponics and aquaponics balance each other's pros and cons.

Now we can use one of the above methods or a mix depending on your space availability. Although I strongly recommend trying for a combination of the above methods. Also, there are many more different gardening methods like vertical planting, but the ones I mentioned above are suitable for beginners; of course, you can modify your garden according to your choice, which is one of the many joys of gardening.
