The dressing room has long ceased to be a luxury or excess and has turned into an essential premise. To make it especially pleasant to use, some rules will help you organize a truly ideal space.
1. Size matters:
First of all, you need to decide on the size and shape of your future dressing room, as well as the amount of free space that you will need when using it, for example, when changing clothes or when you will use the lower drawers or shelves. If there is an island or pouf in the center, I recommend leaving at least 80-90 cm on each side. This will allow you to move around comfortably and freely use all storage systems. There is always a great temptation to make the most of every part of the room, but if it is not possible to maintain these distances, it is better not to occupy the center of the room with anything, so that there is no feeling of piling up. Leave some air in your lovely dressing room.
2. Analyze:
First, you need to decide what type of thing you plan to store and in what quantity. For example, will it be a dressing room for one person or for a couple, whether it is necessary to provide for the storage of seasonal clothes, how many pairs of shoes you need to arrange, whether you plan to place in it, in addition to clothes, bedding, suitcases, etc? Conduct a complete audit of your clothes, shoes, and other things, divide them into types. The configuration of cabinets and shelves will depend on the number of certain positions. This rule is true for absolutely all storage systems that you plan in your new home.
3. Hang or fold?
Of course, things on hangers take up less space, do not wrinkle, and are completely insight, but shelves will also be required. Firstly, for shoes, and secondly, for storing delicate fluffy hand-knitted sweaters and knitwear. They must be stored exclusively folded to avoid deformation. You can also use closed boxes made of breathable materials (cardboard, canvas). The box will protect items from dust, odors, and moths. Lifehack: in order not to forget what exactly is in the box, take a photo of the thing on a polaroid and stick it on the end of the box. You can do the same with shoes if you plan on storing them in boxes. For open storage of shoes, use sloped shelves, they are great for flat running. It will be more convenient to store shoes with heels on regular flat shelves. Also, flat shelves are suitable for storing a collection of bags. Don't forget to add closed drawers. They are perfect for storing underwear and sportswear. Inside these boxes, you can use special organizers for clothes.
4. Accessories:
As you know, the devil is in the details, and absolutely any stylish image is difficult to imagine without accessories. For jewelry, belts, and other nice little things, the island in the center of the dressing room is ideal. Make sure to make it with a glass transparent tabletop, under which you will find the compartments for all your favorite items. In addition to the fact that such a technique will allow you to see your entire collection at a glance, it will attract attention and become a real decoration of your interior. If there is no island, the same technique can be used on the top drawer.
5. Storage of related items:
The clothes bar is located just above the eyes of the owner of the dressing room, so at the top, there is a distance equal to a pair of mezzanine shelves. These shelves, in turn, are great for storing suitcases, extra pillows and blankets, and other things that are rarely used. To not have the feeling of a warehouse, and the shelves looking harmonious, you can use various plain boxes for storage.
6. Lighting:
Lighting plays an important role in any room of an apartment, but especially in a dressing room. In addition to the main ceiling lighting, be sure to add lighting for the shelves and rods. With its help, you can easily distinguish light blue from blue trousers. The mirror should under no circumstances be left unlit if you want your reflection to please you. There is an exceptionally correct recipe: only the front illumination will give you a fresh, radiant look. Top, bottom, side - in no case will work for this. If you have a dressing table and a mirror above it, use the same rule. A beautiful chandelier in the center of the room (if space permits) will be an excellent style accent and will complement the interior.
