WHAT IS UPSC- CSE EXAMINATION?

UPSC EXAM PROCEDURES

UPSC has divided the exam into three stages.

• Preliminary examination: It consists of two objective-type question papers.

• Main Examination: It is a written exam consist of nine papers, in which two forms are qualifying papers and only arks of seven papers are counted.

• Interview or Personality Test: It is the final stage of the CSE in which the personality of the candidate reviewed by highly authorized persons

Preliminary examinations are held in June every year, and the results are published in August.

Mains examination is conducted in October every year, and the results are usually announced in January.

The personality test or Interview is held in March. Final results are usually announced in May.

The training program for the selected candidates is usually commenced during September.

Eligibility for attending UPSC 

1. You have to be a citizen of India(according to the services you select)
2. It would help if you had a degree from a recognized organization approved by govt.
3. Candidates must have attained 21 years and must not exceed 32 years( for general categories.

TIPS TO CRACK CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION ON YOUR FIRST ATTEMPT

Now you know what CSE is and the three different stages of examination you have to go through. Now let us discuss the tips which may help you crack the exam easily with some effort from your side. I can guarantee that if you follow these tips effectively, you can quickly break this exam with good marks. Let’s dig in.

• Objectify the UPSC syllabus: Most IAS aspirants feel that the volume of the IAS syllabus deters them from the determination needed to clear the UPSC examination in the first attempt. The syllabus is vast, but you have to remind yourself that it is something that you have already studied before. It is nothing much, but you have to brush up yourself to start your IAS vision. At first have to go through the syllabus two or more times, divide it into sections according to your strengths and weakness, and then design a study plan.

• Make a timetable and follow it judiciously: Make a timetable yourself and follow it effectively. It might be difficult for the first few days, but if you keep on following this timetable for 21 days, it will become a habit so that it won’t be difficult for you.

• Previous year’s question papers: This is the most effective way to prepare for IAS because last year’s question papers are the best way to analyze the exam and understand what to study and what not to study. And also what is essential and what is not.

• Solve Mock test Papers regularly: Make sure you solve enough mock test papers for prelims and mains; this is a must because it will help you find your weaknesses and your substantial area. This enables you to improve your fault.

• Develop Answer writing skills: Studying the whole syllabus of UPSC is not the most important; it is necessary to practice answer writing. Even if you study the entire UPSC syllabus, you must know how to answer the question you have reviewed. Suppose you have checked everything effectively and cannot answer the questions that much effect. There is no use in your study here. You have to remember that the examiner correcting your paper does not know you or your actual intelligence. They analyze or judge you only through your answer papers, so keep in mind and practice answer writing.

• Read and Revise Regularly: Read and revise. Give importance to revision. Because revision is the only way that helps you memorize what you have studied for the entire syllabus, regular revision is also necessary.

• Newspapers: Newspapers play a significant role in your IAS preparation because 70% of the question papers are based on newspapers and current affairs. Make it your Bible, Geeta, or Quran. But make sure you never skip them.

• Maintain consistency in your studies: As I have mentioned earlier, make sure that you maintain consistency in your studies, that is, regular studies. Never discontinue your studies in between and think that let me study after some days. You won’t ever succeed. So, be consistent. 

• Maintain a healthy diet and sleep: We know that late-night studies are necessary for UPSC, but you have to make sure this habit never affects your health because sleep deficiency may affect one circadian rhythm. Don’t let nervousness bring you down.

Civil Service examination is not that strict. It is conducted to judge your personality, skills, decision-making skills, ad determine how well you manage a situation that is not under control. Remember, the UPSC itself says that you are eligible for Civil Service if you have a degree qualification of 45%. This means anyone intelligent or not can become a civil servant. If you are ready to work hard and give your 101% for the exam, you can easily crack this exam. If you have the willpower, nobody can beat you.
