Androgenic alopecia brought on by malnutrition can be avoided by taking oral supplements of vitamins A, B, C, D, and E as well as trace elements iron, selenium, and zinc. Multivitamins are a useful tool.

Applying procyanidin, onion juice, saw palmetto, rosemary oil, pumpkin seed oil, capsaicin, caffeine, amino acids, curcumin, and garlic gel topically helped stop hair loss.
