How to choose a healthier lifestyle?

A healthy lifestyle is to ensure that you take a balanced diet, do regular exercise, and effectively manage your stress. It is ensuring that you are mentally and physically fit. It also involves the smooth running of your internal system as well as the peace and satisfaction of your heart and mind. A healthy lifestyle is tension and stress-free.
Short- and long-term health benefits come from leading a healthy lifestyle. Long-term, eating a well-balanced diet, exercising regularly, and keeping a healthy weight will help you live longer and lower your risk of diseases including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and obesity. It can also make you feel and look better in the short term, give you more energy, and help you maintain a healthy weight.

Living a healthy lifestyle is important to one’s well-being. Taking control of one’s health and practicing good health habits will help determine a healthy future. A healthy diet and regular exercise are important in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, but other factors like one’s ability to deal with stress, getting the correct number of hours of sleep, avoiding smoking, and drinking responsibly are also part of the equation.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, eating a well-balanced and proper diet helps in controlling a person’s ideal weight, and is also important in supporting all the body’s activities such as fighting off sickness and even providing increased energy. Regular exercise, on the other hand, helps you look and feel better by keeping your body robust and fit.
The risk of contracting common medical conditions such as heart disease and some cancers can be prevented by living a healthy lifestyle. Maintaining healthy habits has also been shown to help slow down the aging process. The majority of individuals today continue to engage in a number of harmful practices that contribute to the development of life-threatening diseases. That is why it is critical to be aware of the factors that will assist in ensuring that each individual is in the greatest possible form and condition. It is also important to plan ahead for your future and your family’s future in the event that something untoward happens to you. Finding a life insurance provider you and your family can trust is an essential part of ensuring that your family’s life can go on, even though you’re no longer around. Life insurance providers give you the freedom to choose the type of plan that you feel will fit your family’s needs. Although leading a healthy lifestyle reduces the likelihood of being ill, it is always prudent to have a safety net in place, and having comprehensive insurance coverage can help you achieve that peace of mind.
Choosing a better lifestyle can benefit your health in numerous ways, including reducing stress, increasing alertness, and allowing you to live a longer life. You can begin by choosing smarter dietary choices that you can live with, as well as daily behaviors and an effort to keep active on a regular basis. These decisions will boost your health in the long run and provide you with long-term effects.
A healthy lifestyle is a product of healthy daily routines and healthy habits. You master a sport that you play daily so likewise, you develop a healthy lifestyle if you incorporate healthy habits and practice a healthy routine daily.

ª DAILY ROUTINE:

ª MORNING ROUTINE:

“Morning is an important time of day because how you spend your morning can often tell you what kind of day you are going to have.”

Daniel Handler:

“The morning routine helps us set the tone for the day, better allowing us to control our schedules rather than our schedule controlling us. We can better focus on what is in front of us, where to spend our time, and, ultimately, boost our productivity, if we start each day fresh. A solid, consistent morning routine can provide us with an opportunity to practice purposeful mindfulness and/or prayer, resulting in feelings of greater calm throughout the day. Feeling productive in our day can lead to a more peaceful evening and, in turn, a better night’s sleep and a refreshed morning the next day. If we set up a healthy morning routine, the morning routine will set up a healthy day in return for us.”
Creating a morning routine is not focused on who can accomplish the most or check off more boxes than everyone else, it is about allowing yourself to begin your day with confidence, peace, and a positive attitude. Starting the day in this manner can help us complete work and deal with problems as they arise without feeling worried or overwhelmed.

·        Why setting a healthy morning routine is important?
The importance of a healthy morning routine can never be much emphasized. This is one chance to set his/her day in a tone. Starting your day good, productive, and healthy can make your day and eventually life peaceful, productive, and healthy.
The morning is a great time for some “me” time. One can take advantage of his/her high energy to give himself/herself some attention before he/she goes into a day that may be hectic and out of his/her control. Listening to thoughts, mind, and heart in a quiet morning is a great tool for self-care. This “me” time for a person is a very important key to self-care. A sound and peaceful morning routine give you a peaceful start to the day, as well as help you be more mindful and content. It relaxes your mind and helps you plan your day better.
Getting up early in the morning increases your concentration. Aside from being able to focus on objectives and task lists without being disturbed by family or coworkers, getting up early means you've had hours to fully adapt yourself to the day by the time you go to work or school.

·        What a healthy morning routine looks like:

v Waking up early and Fa jr prayer:

As they say “early to bed and early to rise makes a person happy, healthy and wise”. Rising with the sun can help you shine with it too. Being Muslims, waking early in the morning is not so difficult for us. Waking up and starting our day with Fajr prayer is the best way to start our day. The importance of Fa jr's prayer is beyond explanation. **********

The quietness in the morning paired with the Fa jr prayer provides calm and warmth to our hearts. Asking help from Allah ad seeking His guidance in your actions, decisions and your day is the most perfect start to our day. Fa jr refreshes one's mind and provides the necessary calmness, peace, satisfaction to a heart.

ª  This time is also considered to be a very good and best time for Zikr.

v MEDITATION:

Meditation is a mental exercise that involves relaxation, focus, and awareness. Meditation is the equivalent of physical exercise for the mind. Individually, in a still seated position, and with eyes closed, the exercise is frequently done.
Meditation isn’t about becoming a different person, a new person, or even a better person. It’s about training in awareness and getting a healthy sense of perspective. You’re not trying to turn off your thoughts or feelings. You’re learning to observe them without judgment. You may eventually gain a deeper understanding of them as well.
Meditation helps us to be mindful and Mindfulness is the ability to be present, to rest in the here and now, fully engaged with whatever we’re doing at the moment. Meditation can wipe away the day’s stress, bringing with it inner peace. See how you may quickly learn to meditate and use it whenever you need it. Meditation is linking with your own self or your inner self. It is self-reflection as well as self-study.

ª Meditation is practiced in one of three modes:

§   Concentration:

focusing attention on a single object, internal or external (focused attention meditation)

§   Observation:

paying attention to whatever is predominant in your experience in the present moment, without allowing the attention to get stuck on any particular thing (open-monitoring meditation)

§   Awareness:

allowing awareness to remain present, undistracted, and not engaged with either focusing or observing.

Meditation is linking with your own self or your inner self. It is self-reflection as well as self-study. Meditating in the morning helps and your organs to relax and breathe fresh. It helps you to be mindful and conscious. It helps you to connect with yourself and with the divine.
Some other benefits of meditation include:

§   Specific benefit: improving your health, wellbeing, performance, focus.

§   Growth: emotional healing, self-knowledge, self-discipline, letting go.

§   Spirituality: connecting with God, inner peace, and other spiritual goals.

v Morning workout/ Exercise/ walk:

Workouts, exercise, or just walks in the morning are also very good things to incorporate into the morning routine. Any type of exercise in the morning will help you move actively the whole day.
A good morning workout routine will help one to cultivate work consistency. Working out in the morning ensures that you feel easy at your work in the office or other place of your job. Early morning exercise helps you develop strong self-discipline. Just like any habit, developing the discipline to get up and exercise in the morning only gets easier with time. Perhaps more importantly, this discipline is likely to spill over into other areas of your life. After all, if you’re going to such lengths to exercise each morning, pairing that work with healthier eating.
A morning exercise routine will help you get better sleep. Waking up early in the morning to exercise will, in turn, help you sleep better. Your body will enjoy a healthy sense of fatigue at the end of the day and will be ready to sleep. Say goodbye to the tossing and turning that comes when your body is restless! A recent study had participants exercise at 7 am 1 pm or 7 pm 3 days per week. Those who were doing the 7 am workout sessions got the most amount of sleep. Morning exercise not only improves the length of sleep you will enjoy, but also your quality of sleep by promoting deeper sleep cycles. A morning workout is a fantastic way to start your day; Morning workouts greatly enhance the metabolism of the body.

v Nutritional breakfast:

Breakfast is often regarded as the “most important meal of the day”. The importance of consuming breakfast has been researched extensively and has been shown to be strongly associated with improved diet quality, feelings of wellbeing, enhanced cognitive performance, and weight control1,2,3,4. Furthermore, some studies have reported a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease as well as Type 2 diabetes among regular breakfast consumers.3 Breakfast provides the body and brain with fuel after an overnight fast – that’s where its name originates, breaking the fast! Without breakfast, you are effectively running on empty, like trying to start the car with no petrol!

Breakfast is often described as the most important meal of the day, providing as it does sustenance and energy (i.e., calories) for whatever activities lay ahead. As nutritionist Adelle Davis famously put it back in the 1960s: “Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper.” (Sifferlin, 2013).1 According to the latest evidence, we should all be aiming to consume around 15–25% of our daily energy intake at breakfast.

The positive contribution of breakfast to nutrient intake and diet quality largely depends on the types of foods consumed. Current recommendations state that individuals consume a “nutrient-dense” breakfast. Proposed guidelines to build a quality breakfast meal suggest that breakfast provides 15-25% of total daily calories18. Thus for a Reference Intake of 2000kcal per day for an average adult, calories from breakfast range from 300-500kcal. The proposed criteria for an ideal breakfast also emphasize including foods from at least three of the food groups, with a special focus on fiber-rich grains, lean proteins (legumes, eggs, lean meat), non-fat or low-fat dairy, fruits, and vegetables19.

Grains are a source of dietary fiber, and emphasis should be on whole-grain and bran-based grains which provide at least 3g/100g fiber18. For instance, consuming fortified ready-to-eat breakfast cereals has been shown to significantly improve average daily intakes of iron, vitamin D, folate, and vitamins B1, B2, and B320. Dairy products are important sources of calcium and vitamin D. Fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins A and C, folate, and fiber18. Food and beverages high in added sugars and sodium must be limited due to their negative consequences on health if consumed in excess. There is, undoubtedly much cultural variation in the kinds of foods that different people like to eat for breakfast.

ª OTHER ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE DAY:

v Find little ways to stay active throughout the day:

"Even if I have a busy day ahead of me, I always try to get in some type of workout five times a week," says Nazima Qureshi, R.D., M.P.H., C.P.T. "Not only do I get the benefits of exercise, but I also use this time as 'me time, which helps me unwind. I like to try something new to change it up so I don’t get bored of the same old exercise routine."

And if you don't have time to log a full workout, try breaking it up. "In a perfect world I'd have time to get to a yoga class or spend an hour at the gym, but having an inconsistent schedule doesn't always allow for that," says Jessi Haggerty, R.D., C.P.T., creator of the BodyLove planner. "If I can't get in an hour of 'structured' exercise, I make sure to squeeze in some extra walking on my breaks throughout the day."

à   Taking stairs instead of in place of lift.

à   Not sitting at a place for a long time.

ª Nutritional Lunch:

Eating a healthy diet is not about strict limitations, staying unrealistically thin, or depriving yourself of the foods you love. Rather, it’s about feeling great, having more energy, improving your health, and boosting your mood.

Lunch is an important meal of the day. -Food is the source of your energy. Lunch raises your blood sugar level in the middle of the day, making you be able to focus for the rest of the afternoon. ... -For kids, lunch is even more important because this is when they get their vitamins and nutrients for the day.

It has been proven that people who don’t eat lunch tend to gain more weight because they overeat during dinner time to compensate for lunch.

Good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Combined with physical activity, your diet can help you to reach and maintain a healthy weight, reduce your risk of chronic diseases (like heart disease and cancer), and promote your overall health.

ª What You Should Be Eating for Lunch:

·         Complex Carbohydrates.

·         Whole-grain bread, whole-grain pasta, brown rice, sweet potatoes. ...

·         Protein.

·         Salmon, chicken, tuna, nuts, tofu, beans, turkey, lean beef, eggs. ...

·         Low-fat Dairy.

·         Assorted Fruits.

ª Healthy Dinner:
Don’t sleep on an empty stomach!

Dinner is also an important meal, which must never be skipped. If you skip this meal, the time between your last meal of the day and your first meal the next day will be extremely long. This can cause ravenous hunger, severe acidity, nausea, blackouts, and disturbed sleep to name some of the most basic side effects.
Never skip dinner, just eat light:

The earlier you eat your dinner, the better it is, only because you are awake longer and perhaps, a little more active than you’d be too late in the night. Our bodies work at BMR (basal metabolic rate) when we are awake, but it slows down to RMR when we sleep (resting metabolic rate). When you are up for extended periods of time, your body can burn more calories than when you are sleeping. But, as I previously stated, dinner is an important meal that should not be overlooked. So, have a light dinner and try to stay awake for at least two hours afterward.

Other points for effective routine:

PLAN YOUR DAY:

Introducing daily planning into your routine is an easy – but essential – step to create balance in your life: it allows you to clearly separate the time you spend working and the time you have for everything else.
It can help you live a less stressed life: Knowing what to expect from the day ahead of you (and having a plan to get through it all) minimizes the amount of stress you'll experience the following day.
It allows you to evaluate yourself: Having plans allow you to analyze whether you’re sticking to them, evaluating your own ability to stay – or not – on schedule;

§  The following points demonstrate why planning is so critical to success.

à Planning can greatly reduce your stress quotient. Proper planning offers you the assurance that you have devised a workable plan of action and that your objectives are attainable.

à Planning also helps you to be prepared for obstacles because part of the planning process is creating a contingency plan for unexpected problems.

à Planning serves as a way to evaluate your progress as you work. Planning your daily and weekly activities will clearly illustrate whether you are staying on schedule. It helps you be prepared: You can’t predict the obstacles that may occur, but part of your planning routine can be having a contingency plan for an emergency or unexpected situations – it’ll help avoid panicking.
