How to calculate the Quantity of water in Circular Tank?

How to calculate the Quantity of water in Circular Tank?

1.   Storage tanks are constructed for storing water, liquid petroleum, petroleum products & merchandise and similar & comparable liquids.

2.   Designed as crack free structures to eliminate any leakage.

3.   Permeability of concrete is directly proportional to water cement ratio.

4. To maintain low shrinkage, cement content between 330 kg/ m3 and 530 kg/ m3 is recommended.

We will be determining the capacity Water in Circular Tank by an example.

Let's focus on these pictures

How to calculate the Quantity of water in Circular Tank?

These are just simple pictures of the Circular Water Tank. Remember the process in this method can be the same for all types of water tank; it does not matter if it's an overhead water tank or underground water tank, (but should be circular).

Remember the capacity of the tank can be calculated in terms of volume (meters) and if we multiply the volume with 1000, we can get the capacity of the tank in liters.

Now, let's go ahead. The total capacity of the tank or the volume of the tank can be area of the base times the depth of the tank.

∴, For circular Tanks

So,

volume of tank =

π /4  d2* height (h)

Here,

Height of tank = 4.5 m as per above drawing

Diameter of tank = 2 m as per above drawing

∴,

Volume of Circular Tank

               = π/4  x d2* height (h)

               = 3.1415/4 * 22 * 4.5 / 4

              = 14.14 m3

Also, we know that the water is measured in liters not in cubic meters.

∴ ,

In 1 Cubic Meter = 1000 liters

∴, Volume of Circular Tank in liters

      = 14.14 * 1000
     = 14140 liters

In case of gallon,

Gallon (gal)

Liter (L)

1

3.78541

∴ ,Volume of Tank (Gallon)

       = 14140 / 3.78541

        = 3736 gal

∴, if we have same two circular tanks,

   Volume of Tank (liters)

                       = 2 * 14140

                   = 28280 liters

In Gallons,

     = 28280 / 3.78541

    = 7471 gal

The availability of concrete block is in different sizes and shapes, and has different physical properties. They may be hollow or full, made from light cement or very dense aggregates.

The calculation of no. of concrete blocks is very simple for a building; either residential or commercial & required no prior information of building and architecture.

There are different methods for calculating the no. of blocks in a wall.

Note:

It means that either the calculation can be calculated by Surface Area Method or Volume method, getting the same results.

Also, if the wall does not have any openings, then skip the step 4, and, just divide the surface area of wall by surface area of one block.
