Calculating squares by long calculation of multiplication is a cumbersome task sometimes. There are sometimes calculation mistakes regarding the answer. Many rules can be applied to solve the square of a number that is a 2 digit or a three-digit number. This article will discuss certain rules regarding the squares of a number using the VEDIC MATHS method.
1. RULES REGARDING SQUARE OF A NUMBER LESS THAN 50 AND 50-100
- For numbers greater than 50 and less than 100, check the number how much ahead it is by 50; the last two digits would be the square of this number, and then add this value to the number 25, and this number would be the first two digits of the answer.
- For example, a square of 51 is to be calculated. Here the number 51 is ahead of 50 by 1, so the last two digits would be 01(with a 0 if the digit is single), and this digit1 is added to the number 25 to get the result as 2601.
- Similarly, for numbers less than 50, check the number how much less it is by 50; the last two digits would be the square of this number(with a 0 if the digit is single) and then subtract this value from the number 25, and this number would be the first two digits of the answer.
- For example, the square of 47 is to be calculated. Here the number 47 is less than 50 by 3, so the last two digits would be 09, and this digit 3 is subtracted from the number 25 to get the result as 2209.
2. RULES REGARDING SQUARE OF A NUMBER LESS THAN AND GREATER THAN 100
- For a number greater than 100, check the number how much ahead it is by 100, then the square of this number would be the last two digits, and this number will be added to the number whose square is to be calculated to get the first three digits.
- For example, the square of the number 104 is to be calculated, the number is ahead of 100 by 4, and the last two digits would be 16, and this 4 will be added to the number 104 to get the number 10816 as the answer.
- For a number less than 100, check the number how much less it is by 100, then the square of this number would be the last two digits, and this number is subtracted from the number whose square is to be calculated to get the first three digits.
- For example, the square of the number 99 is to be calculated; the number is less than 100 by 1, so the last two digits would be 01, and this 1 will be subtracted from the number 99 to get the number 9801 as the answer.
3. RULES REGARDING NUMBERS LIKE 11,111,1111
- For numbers containing 1 in all ones, tens, and hundreds place, write the number in ascending order to the value the number of ones in the digit and then in the descending order till 1.
- For example,11 square is calculated, so we write the number in ascending order as 12 and then descend till 1 to get 121. Similarly, 1111 can be calculated as 1234321.
