This one really requires that you have patience as well as knowledge. Many dogs, especially dogs from the New York City area do not get meals enough. Please take the time to offer dog food to dogs and treat them like they are royalty. They deserve the finest food quality, and it doesn't cost money. People also get irritated if they see dogs eating alone or with other dogs or even with dirt. Dogs feel that food and other basic human needs like clothes, and they just don't understand this behavior. Give them plenty to eat, and reward them. If they enjoy the food, show them that you are willing to give them treats after all the hard work they did just like they are one of the best canine companions to get. If they are not happy, simply change their eating routine and make them wait to be given something nice after all the trouble they had to go through to earn them. These dogs will still be there for them after all the years and even though they have taken a long journey and made you think it was worth it to have a dog by your side for an entire life, it cannot be done without them.
7. Show More Love And Appreciation than Punishment.
Punishment is bad for dogs, let's face it, punishes humans for wanting to please us. If you think you are teaching your pet not to do these actions, think again. Punishing our pets is not helping. Humans are creatures of habit and when the habit becomes part of everyday life, people will break it off because they just do not want to be punished. Punishing dogs is wrong, not only because punishers aren't teaching them well, they are hurting our own pets. Because they have learned how to take punishment from every way I mentioned above, they continue to punish us. We have the power to forgive our pets which means that we can't blame them for taking punishments from us. Our responsibility lies with us, to teach our pets to forgive us, we need to stop punishing them. Instead, show that we are forgiving them and giving them forgiveness from those that hurt us.
8. Understand Your Breed. Know Exactly Which Breeds Are Best For Each Breed.
It seems like people are constantly telling me that they don't know what breed to buy, and all kinds of breeds like Dachshunds, Boxers, Mastiffs, Fancy Shagglers, Chow, Pitbulls, etc. But do not be fooled, we do know what exactly type of dog we want for ourselves. Some of us have small hands, some of us just want a bigger dog so that they can feel safe, some want big teeth so they know to bite hard. Most of us want the big dog because to them, safety is something that gets put above all needs and desires. Safety isn't always the number one priority for dogs. Dogs are not meant to be safe and this is a major reason why dogs are such a diverse breed.
