A spiritual atheist? Perhaps this is a strange concept if you think that spirituality means believing in God. Should the two be related? Many consider the historical Buddha to be a spiritual figure, but many are unaware that he never expressed faith in God. He discouraged his followers from such “speculations” that they would like to strive for their salvation in this world.
Computer spirituality
Imagine a computer that started to become so complex and powerful that it started asking questions "out of the box". Consciousness comes. The first thing to realize is that, for all its computing potential, it is still very limited. Humans who use it, most of whom cannot begin to understand its complex algorithms, are still powerful. They see the world more clearly.
A computer can read a million facts, perhaps not yet knowing what to use them for. It can describe human psychology and still not understand the smile. He does not even know why it exists or what it is used for. If anyone wants to see and develop more, to understand these limitations and really wonder about the world outside of its circuits - it becomes computer spirituality.
Atheistic spirituality
The atheist does not believe in just one God. There is not enough evidence, so do not believe. Contrary to what many people think, an atheist does not need to prove the existence of God, and now a Christian does not need to prove that the world is ruled by intelligent termites. The burden of proof always rests on the person making the positive statement.
The atheist can discover the secret of life and be amazed at how deeply everything he learns can change that mystery. The atheist can recognize his limitations and try to grow, perhaps even by cultivating a relationship with the "higher powers". This is atheistic spirituality. How is this different from “normal” spirituality?
The difference is that the atheist does not have to pretend to understand the mysteries - he does not have to create gods and religions to explain them. Contacting the "higher powers" is the act of tuning in subconscious resources through meditation or other means. Are these “higher powers” nothing more than electrical models in our brain? We don’t know how to press them, and we don’t need to know.
Do atheists want to know? It is the opposite. "Understanding" short circuits for religious explanations on topics prevents any search for truth. How can you understand and integrate new evidence when you are no longer questioning it? It is better to use and understand spiritual tools such as "insight" - or - with time and narrative evidence.
Look at the past, and we’ll see how narrow-minded they are and how little they understand compared to us. We will appear before the people in the future as well as in the future. We are growing in our knowledge and energy, but like that spiritual computer, our circuits are in the box we need to take out. Finding a way out of that box makes a person a spiritual atheist...
