How to become a great man? Share with your friends!
The idea of becoming a good and great human being is something that one can only dream about, and it would be almost impossible to aspire to be the best man in the world if you have not even tried. A lot has changed since I was a young kid and I want to share some of what I learned from my childhood years on how to improve myself. Let’s start with an honest truth, I cannot help but admit that nobody else is perfect. The most important thing about our nature as humans is imperfection, which means that we will never be exactly like someone else or exactly the way they are.
It always surprises me because if there is no real wrong that arises in nature, then it also means that our nature is absolutely right. There are many reasons why we are who we are, mostly that things don’t go according to plan. We are constantly learning from mistakes and experiences so that when they come out again, it’s going to be easier for us to adjust. Also, if there are no setbacks then there is no need, and nothing else that needs to happen or change will ever occur.
No matter how much we try, what we believe, we will never be able to be 100% certain, and what we do about that will ultimately determine whether we are a genuine person or just another imitation of another. Sometimes we simply make mistakes that are hard not to learn from. If we never learn from them, then they will become habitual, whether conscious or unconscious. This leads us back to the original key point: We are not perfect, and there are no people better than others in all ways. But in order to get better at doing the things in life, we need to understand that we are all the same, and we are all capable of making mistakes and getting better. One must remember that imperfections exist right in front of us, and we need to find a way to work around them.
As James Clear says “You are not perfect, but you probably are pretty close…” In order to get better at this, one has to accept that they are not perfectly perfect. So, instead of worrying or dwelling on mistakes, instead, practice accepting them. And in doing that, it is only by looking past mistakes that we gain perspective and wisdom, but without those mistakes, there is nothing to look at, no perspective to get, no wisdom to gather from. There is no such thing as an empty vessel because every mistake is not meant to represent that in itself. If we constantly live through our mistakes then not only will we learn from them but we also will grow in a very positive way. Once we learn to live through our setbacks, then perhaps we may never make mistakes again in the future, just as our ancestors made mistakes and had their failures, and in these cases, learned humility. By living through our errors, we are putting ourselves in the driver's seat of our lives. When we look back at our experience in the classroom, then maybe we begin to see things differently because if we were treated differently, then maybe those same lessons can be applied inside of our everyday lives and eventually lead to success. All this, without any regrets at all, because we now know that the only reason we are here is to learn and that we are only worthy because we have the courage to try. Only once we begin to realize that we are more blessed than anything, would we then begin to truly appreciate the joy that comes from creating a successful life of our own, because it takes guts to accomplish that. In fact, it requires everything from courage to discipline and a willingness to fight through whatever challenges we may face. It's in that spirit where I say that anyone can become a great man, but it isn't necessarily easy, and sometimes that may be scary or hard for us to deal with.
However, if we know how to overcome our hurdles, and know that our weaknesses are merely a part of who we are and not a flaw, then we can easily pull off the feat of becoming a great men. So, I guess we could summarize my approach to becoming a great man by saying just do it anyway because it will make us stronger and better at it. Of course, there are some obstacles and challenges along the road that one will inevitably encounter. Those obstacles needn’t affect our ability in any way to take action, or even to think and decide because we already have the power in our hands to take action. Just like a mountain that we climb each day, we never know what obstacle we will encounter, what challenges we would be willing to take on, or what challenging task we would wish someone else to complete.
What we can do is a practice taking small steps in the direction, and hope that we make progress in those small steps. Because that's where the true worth lies, and we are more worthy for every step we take. If we have the willpower to take a few extra minutes at the beginning of every day, then surely there is no true impediment to reaching our goals regardless if it seems intimidating or difficult. After all, sometimes we just need a little push of encouragement to pick us up.
