How to become a good person
You need to be a caring, compassionate and supportive person. If so, then I have good news:
You don't need to be perfect, but you do need to learn some things! Here are 11 of the most important lessons that you must ever learn about being a good person and building genuine friendships.
1. Learn how to take care of your self-respect
Self-respect is one thing in which we can improve. It is something that helps our self-confidence and makes us feel valued. However, it makes no sense to allow yourself to become too concerned with what people think about you. Don't force yourself to get defensive or lose self-control. Just because someone doesn't like your opinions and behavior doesn't mean they are bad or wrong about them.
2. Understand others feelings and needs through empathy
In a world full of hate, there are always going to be people who have very hurtful or upsetting stories to share. Sometimes making an effort to understand these are not going to help anyone but instead, puts you closer to helping someone. Empathy, when it is understood, allows you to build stronger relationships with people who are hurting. So, just as you try to understand why someone might be feeling offended by something they said or did, you should also try to figure out why they might be upset. Is it because they were treated poorly by another person? Is it because they were teased? Whatever it is, find out more about their thoughts about this situation and try to figure out why it might be hurting them as well as whether they can be helped.
3. Learn how to respect one's boundaries
Being a respectful person means having clear and open boundaries about how you interact with other people. Someone who refuses to talk to you about certain topics such as politics, religion, and even mental health should not come into your presence. Similarly, you might not want to hug the person that had an accident or that was hit down by the vehicle you were driving. There are many ways that you can set up good boundaries to show people that you value and respect their personal space. For instance, you can set standards on who is allowed in your home. Maybe you are okay with only family members coming into your home. But you might decide that only those that matter will be able to enter your home to see you. Or maybe you will create a rule that visitors only get permission if they are invited to stay at your home. The choice is yours. But remember, regardless of where you go, respect your boundaries. When someone crosses into your home without permission, it might feel like it should be taken as a sign of disrespect. We all know it would be better to ignore them and keep walking away than to defend our beliefs and respect their boundaries.
4. Be conscious of what others think is best for you
Everyone has different ideas about what is best for them. People don't necessarily agree on how to handle certain situations. That's okay! Most of the time, it's great to listen to people. Asking questions is a great way to discover more. However, sometimes you need to look deeper and determine if others know the answer to a question because it may be relevant to your current situation. This might be true for people but it might not be for others. Look deeper and figure out whether it might be useful for you to ask the correct person for the information or if you need help from your partner. Also, consider asking for advice from others. In some cases, sharing knowledge or having a discussion you can use to help someone might be okay. Sometimes, you might even need to be proactive about finding someone out there to help. If you need someone to share your opinion with, you can ask them to give you the benefit of the doubt and let you know if they are right or wrong about something.
5. Give back to the community
When you give back to the community, you show your generosity and respect for the people around you. Giving back to others shows other people that you believe in them and that you believe that all people deserve to have equal opportunities. You might also be thinking about giving money to charity or volunteering in local organizations that serve your community. These are things that you can do for people who might be in need or who are struggling with mental health problems. Giving back and becoming a part of your community success can lead to positive outcomes that will make you happy, healthy & prosperous.
6. Build trustworthy friendships
Be a genuinely kind friend. You shouldn't put anyone under any sort of false expectation or act as if you expect others to treat your every whim or request you make of them in a particular manner. Being trustworthy means listening carefully & being aware of your actions. When you put trust, you create a bond. Trust is built over time and you have to be willing to open up to people. In general, it’s not enough to say that you are doing what's right. You have to be consistent and honest with yourself. And although you might not need to keep secrets from people, keeping your commitment to each other and making sure that you and your loved ones aren't being misled is key for a better relationship. Having a clear understanding of each other's intentions will eliminate miscommunication. Keeping records of your conversations will increase transparency and help you better understand everyone's intentions towards you. If you truly love and trust each other, your relationship will never end.
7. Communicate clearly
Communication is vital to any relationship. You learn how to communicate verbally in school, work, or outside the office. No one is going to appreciate everything that you tell them. Your words must convey your emotions and what you want to get across to your partner. The same goes for speaking to a group of people. Speak to everyone equally to avoid prejudice or discrimination. You also have to be clear with what you want to be told. If you aren't delivering an informative speech, you need to be clear both about the topic and your facts. Likewise, if you're writing a letter to someone, your letter must be honest and concise.
8. Try to be passionate about your goals
People are naturally drawn to people who show courage, determination, purposefulness, and drive. Not everyone has the stamina to achieve their goals. Even those who work hard, however, are not immune to burnout. By saying yes to your dreams and dreams, you become a passionate person. The next time you give a presentation or speak in front of groups, you inspire the audience to follow you around town and make them realize that your goal isn't easy. By pushing the limits of your potential, you inspire people to follow you further. Of course, if that person ends up finding passion elsewhere, it makes you even more inspired to continue living your dream.

This will help you stay more energetic and focus on your objectives.
