How to beat plastic pollution

Every year, on World Environment Day, most of us pledge to keep Mother Earth clean. But let's face it, we'll soon forget about it. India is currently doing its best to prevent plastic pollution, but not as much as necessary. The decline of marine life, the increase of litter on land and the pollution of waterways are largely caused by plastic pollution. Today, plastic is so important in our lives that we think we couldn't live without it. You can beat plastic pollution by doing the following.

Never use microspheres.

Microbeads, or microplastics, are tiny bits of plastic sponges found in body washes, toothpastes and scrubs. Due to the small size of these pearls, they can pass through water filtration systems. Many aquatic animals mix them into food and eat them. These pearls are harmful to marine life. Instead of these cleansers, people can also use natural scrubs like salt, sugar, and oatmeal. Avoid products with polypropylene or polyethylene components, and consider making your own.

Instead of a plastic bag, a jute or fabric bag should be used.

We can't do without plastic entirely, but we can significantly reduce it. You know you have to go shopping every week.

Do not throw plastic bags into the sea.

After participating in various religious ceremonies, many threw flowers, money, food and coconuts wrapped in plastic bags into the river. This has been a major factor in river pollution for many years.

Purchase in large quantities.

Bulk purchasing is when you buy all the ingredients in one extremely large purchase as opposed to buying them regularly in smaller amounts. By using this form of buying, you consume much less packaging and single-use plastics,  in addition to saving money.

Use organic sanitary pads.

Opt for biodegradable tampons instead. Cotton hygiene products are much cheaper than non-biodegradable hygiene products and help reduce plastic pollution.

Bring your own water bottles.

Instead of buying water bottles every day, you can carry water in fun reusable bottles.

Stop using straws.

Straws should not be used as they are disposable, create plastic waste and cannot be recycled. Instead of plastic straws, bamboo or biodegradable straws can be used.

Put an end to buying water.

Even though we all understand how crucial it is to maintain excellent health and stay hydrated, it's so easy to grab a bottle of water anytime you feel thirsty.  You may avoid the temptation to buy a plastic water bottle by remembering to bring a refillable water bottle with you wherever you go. Even if you forget to fill it before you leave, most cafés will be happy to fill it for you. In this place, you can genuinely make changes with little effort.

Reuse old plastic products.

If not, remember that you need to be conversant with the phrase "upcycling." Upcycling is the process of reusing unwanted materials to make them more desirable or practical. This is a terrific technique to reuse used plastic products or apparel so that you don't waste them and don't need to buy new stuff.

The phrase “ban plastic” should become second nature. Be positive and share your joy in reducing plastic pollution by taking steps to stop it with everyone you meet.
