How To Beat Depression

In this an article I write about my personal experience with depression and how I learned to manage it and even eradicate it. I'm sure I'm not alone in that I have regular periods of my life when I'm depressed, but knowing that fact doesn't make it any easier. I hope you enjoy reading the article.

I recently talked to my parents about my depression. My mother said she thinks we have some kind of depression gene because most of our family suffers from similar symptoms.

I recently suffered through a severe bout of this depression last week, but I learned a valuable lesson from it. I had a bad period in my life where everything seemed to go wrong. It was one kick in the teeth after another. I had nothing to look forward to and decided I needed a night out with my friends. I had one intention in mind, and that was to get as drunk as possible.

The next day I felt really sick and hungover after having a very late night and massive amounts of alcohol as planned. I struggled to stay awake all day and became more and more depressed as the day went on. The negative side of my brain took over my whole head and it felt like a lot of negative chemicals were going through my body.

The lesson I've learned is that it's not a good idea to go out and drink alcohol when you're feeling down and depressed.

When I talked to my parents about my recent bout of anxiety and depression, they gave me some interesting and helpful advice. They asked me to think about all the things and aspects of my life that got me down. What I then needed to do was to talk about them and think positively by trying to find a solution to each of these problems.

It's not easy at all, but I'm trying now. I realized that it is good to talk about our fears and phobias and that there is nothing wrong with admitting that you are stressed and depressed.

I hope I don't have to live with these regular bouts of depression for the rest of my life, because I have to say I hate it, especially when it means I can't sleep during the night, which happens to me quite regularly. However, I will look for other ways to beat my depression when it occurs.

Now I try to think positive in all situations, life is too short to worry about everything all the time. I also started reading a lot of self-help books, they taught me a lot of new things and gave me a lot of new ideas.
