How to be successful?

Early in my career, I was told, "Most people have a business plan, but the problem is they don't follow through on their plan." The same can be said about New Year's resolutions. How many promises have you made to yourself, and how many will you keep?
One big problem is that sometimes too many goals are set. Another issue may be that a goal is so dramatic that it will take all of your time to achieve it. In fact, it can be so huge, it becomes overwhelming. At this stage, you will not only be working on the idea, but being overwhelmed will prevent you from achieving your other simpler goals.
For example, if you want to be famous across the country this year, you have to take major public relations steps to make it happen. This will require speaking out everywhere, showcasing one's expertise, contacting the media as much as possible, and continuing to be seen and heard in every way known to mankind.
Plus, you still have all the other avenues of your business to contend with as the CEO of your own company. How do you combat this dilemma?
In my mind, I equated a year-long project with a day's worth of vitamins. I suggest breaking down public relations strategies into enabling actions. First, completely outline everything you can think of that you will need to try and accomplish in order to feel 100% successful. Then prioritize the steps according to what will take the most time to complete.
Start with the most difficult and time-consuming tasks first. The logic here is two-fold. You have the most excitement at the start of the year, such as, "I'm really going to do it this time!" So now it will be easier to tackle the difficult task.
Now that you know which task to start, do at least one phase of it each day, depending on how much time you can devote to the project. This is where I compare this process to a one-day vitamin.
Dedicating your top priority to one task a day will give you new energy to keep going! You will feel the excitement coming your way and the adrenaline will be flowing. As you complete a task, your project will get easier and more enjoyable every day.
As you get used to the routine of working on your big project, it will become easier to do even smaller tasks. Within several months you start to feel like you're making a mark for yourself and other areas of your business are expanding as well. In fact, as all the areas of your business are built together, new business will come your way with very little effort.
When you act strategically, the anxiety subsides and the smile returns to your face. Also, be sure to help others who need your area of expertise or who want to follow in your footsteps. Your new behavior will attract new customers because you are happy, confident and clearly successful. You'll also build repeat business, referrals and testimonials - all the ingredients needed for success.

Every few months, you will be able to see and measure your progress. You must be feeling very popular in the middle of the year. By the end of the year, you will be successful and be famous across the country!

Additional ideas for building a business:

- Review each day's achievement at the end of each week

- Plan the daily tasks for the next week on Friday

- Add simple tasks as difficult tasks are completed

- Increase your dosage of vitamins or daily tasks if the routine is simple

- Share the good news of your achievements

- Make a vow to keep taking your business vitamins year after year

The end result of paying excellent attention to your plan is that it will be successful, and your profits will increase.
