Many housewives start home-based businesses because they want to be home with their children. And I was no different: I quit a big business venture to be closer to my two children.
However, you put a lot of work into your business, and it works! Yeah Al that sounds pretty crap to me, Looks like BT aint for me either. How do you balance your time? Do you still put your children first? Or you go "just a minute for honey!" line and hope they can't tell the time?
It happened to me: one day, during my first Christmas in business, I was busy ordering 150 gift baskets. It was hard work, and the stress was intense. The deadline was approaching, and I did not have time to stop to direct the room.
There were boxes of product everywhere, there were empty boxes, and there was delicious food everywhere: a place of real disaster! Just then, my 4-year-old daughter (now 11 years old) came to me with her big brown eyes in tears: "Mom, I'm so lonely and lonely ... Can we play a little?" What could I do? I was alone with him at home, and if I stopped playing, there was no way I could finish my order early.
So, I immediately thought, with my feet, how I could play with him and work at the same time. I also had the idea of building an office next to mine without the used / damaged boxes. She was happy! And HE DOES all the work! I told her where she had picked up the boxes, and I set her up next to me by the desk. He built a desk, fixed a chair, and even had things to sell in his shop.
Thus, I was able to continue my work without interruption for a long time. He loved to watch and copy me: when I picked up the phone to talk to a customer, he picked up his imaginary phone. When I needed to make a basket, he made his own. When I counted the value of my baskets, he picked up a pencil and counted the prices.
Over time, his office changed: old, damaged boxes were replaced with real wooden drawers. The inventory I could sell was a list of his store. He even got an extra machine, and a sofa. Now, his office is his favorite place to play. And it is no longer just an office: it is a whole building with different shops. It has a restaurant, a bath and a shower, a bookstore, and a toy store.
The store has helped her in many ways:
- learned about storage and ordered inventory
- learned about the behavior on the phone
- learned to compound and subtract
- learned organizational skills
- learned the art (pieces and pieces of ribbons, unusual baskets, empty containers have become a major asset in his business)
