All the activities being performed by the man revolve around a linchpin that is undoubtedly a healthy body. Mental and physical health is pivotal in leading a prosperous life. A patient in the hospital is not in a position to carry out any constructive work, rather he deserves the empathy of medical professionals. With every passing day, medical science is unearthing new facts and germs which are key players in lowering the quality of health conditions.
Diseases can broadly be classified into two categories, lethal and nonlethal diseases. Lethal diseases are those which pose risk to life and include AIDS, Cancer, and severe liver and heart diseases. On the other hand, nonlethal maladies include bad cold, seasonal fever, different types of allergies, etc. Depending upon intensity, there are ailments that are less harmful in character, but the pain and miseries attached to them are cruel. Asthma can be placed in this category.
I passed college in 2007 and soon after that started my business, dealing in food grains. Till then, I did not realize that I am suffering from any sort of allergy. In the summer of 2008, one day when the sun was blazing, and I had to weigh a huge amount of wheat grains, some symptoms of flu developed, and soon I began to feel that something onerous is lying on my chest. I kept on working during the day, but as the night fell, the symptoms aggravated, and stiffness was observed in my breathing.
As time passed, the soundless breathing became vociferous, and my overall health condition went from bad to worse. I started breathing with much difficulty. The thoughts striking my mind at that critical moment were that I might have lost the entire time, I was granted to spend on earth. A breathing problem with a severe form of coughing was all set to break my nerves. Somehow, the night was over, and I left my home for the hospital. As I stepped out, it was dawned on me that I had lost the requisite strength for walking. So, I boarded a car that shifted me to the nearby medical facility.
The doctor available there was kind enough to listen to my whole night's horrible story. After listening, he smiled and said that I was suffering from bronchial spasms and if not treated properly, it would lead to the onset of asthma. I bought the prescribed medicine and promised myself that I would exercise caution and care to avoid the disease in the future. After medication, I convalesced in a few days and began to perform routine activities.
In mid-September, the weather became pleasant and haziness was witnessed on daily basis in the morning and evening time. Increased Pollution levels led to the development of a number of different types of allergies. Despite all precautionary measures, I again fell prey to asthma. This time I went to the hospital and got a detailed medical examination. The medical report revealed that I was an allergy patient and allergic asthma was on its way to affecting my body. It was very difficult to accept that I was about to become an asthma patient, as nobody in my family suffered from the same.
Year by year symptoms grew severe, and I had to go through this painful experience during every seasonal change as during that particular time quality of air deteriorates leading to the allergy onslaughts. The symptoms I observed included severe cough, stiffness in breathing, loss of appetite, sleeplessness, memory issues, etc.
Now I have learned how to live with this chronic disease. I have changed my routine of activities. I go for a morning walk regularly, wear a mask while out of house premises, put on glasses if I have to travel by bike, and avoid going in dusty areas. At the moment, by the grace of Almighty Allah, I am spending a life full of energy and enthusiasm. All this happened only because of taking up healthy activities and living in a salubrious environment instead of a polluted one.
