How to Ace Your Exams During Your Period
Just because you’re on your period doesn’t mean you can’t ace your exams! Follow these simple tipssimpletipssimpletipssimpletipssimple to make your exams less painful and more productive during your menstrual cycle.
Don't Skip Breakfast
It can be tempting to skip breakfast when you're feeling bloated and tired. But, don't do it! Skipping breakfast will only make you more sluggish and moody. Try a healthy breakfast like oatmeal with berries or toast with peanut butter.
Take Breaks
Take regular breaks from studying, even if it's just a five minute walk. The change of scenery will help you clear your head and give you a fresh perspective on whatever topic you're trying to study. Plus, it'll give your brain a chance to rest before diving back into the deep end. Give yourself some time for food, water and snacks throughout the day so you don't get too hungry or tired.
Get Enough Sleep
Sleep is essential for good health, and your body needs a good night's rest in order to function at its best. Getting enough sleep will help you feel more energized, which means you'll be able to focus better on your studies during periods. Plus, it'll help prevent mood swings and crankiness (you know what we're talking about).
Drink Plenty of Fluids
Drinking plenty of fluids is the best way to stay hydrated and reduce your risk of getting a urinary tract infection. Drink water, sports drinks, or tea instead of soda or coffee. If you have cramps, drink hot water with lemon, ginger ale, or herbal tea. Avoid caffeinated beverages like coffee and energy drinks because they can worsen menstrual cramps and interfere with sleep.
Eat Healthy Snacks
When it comes to studying during periods, it's important that you eat a healthy diet. Generally speaking, people who have more sugar and carbs in their diet are more likely to have lower levels of serotonin, which is the feel-good hormone. This can make you moody and unable to concentrate on your work. The good news is that there are many healthful snacks out there for people with menstrual cycles.
Wear Comfortable Clothing
Wearing comfortable clothing during your period will make studying easier. You'll be more likely to feel calm and collected and will be able to focus better. Some people may find that they experience less cramping while wearing loose-fitting clothes, which can also help with concentration. Of course, if you find that you're more comfortable wearing tight-fitting clothes, then by all means wear them!
Use a Heating Pad
Heating pads can be a lifesaver during your period. They're perfect for when you're cramping or feeling any other type of discomfort. Not only do they make you feel more comfortable, but they also rt of menstrual flow and decrease menstrual cramps. If you don't have a heating pad, a hot wwaterater bottle, rice bag, or bath works just as well.
Take Pain Medication
If you experience pain during your periods, then it is important that you take pain medication in order to maintain your focus and not let the pain distract you. You may also want to try taking ibuprofen before and after the exam period starts. This will help decrease any post-exam cramps and make your period more comfortable while studying. It is also suggested that you use pads or tampons with extra protection in case of leaks. Take a hot shower: A study by Dr. Karen McDonough says hot showers can release endorphins which are natural feel good hormones that can relieve menstrual cramps. Drink lots of water: Staying hydrated will keep you focused throughout your exams and prevent headaches due to dehydration.
