Srinagar, Feb 11: Kashmir Trade Alliance (KTA) has appealed Jammu and Kashmir government to consider reopening educational institutions after the COVID wave has dipped.Srinagar, Feb 12: The body of an unidentified man, apparently a non-local, was found at Syed Kadal Fathapora area of central Kashmir's Ganderbal district on Saturday morning, an official said.
Quoting the official news agency KNO reported that the man aged around 40 was spotted by locals lying in a nullah who subsequently informed the concerned police station.
SHO Saddar Gulzar Hussain told KNO that a police party rushed to the spot and took it into their possession.
He said that the identification of the deceased is being ascertained.President, KTA, Aijaz Shahdhar said that there was a dangerous situation of COVID in other states, however, now schools and colleges are being opened in these states.
"Students have suffered a lot. They are not benefiting from online education."
He said that the closure of schools, colleges, and other educational institutions had a negative impact on the participation and competence of students in competitive examinations. "If there is no taboo in opening coaching centers, then what are the implications for opening educational institutions?".New Delhi, Feb 12: India saw a single day rise of 50,407 coronavirus infections, which took the tally of cases to 4,25,86,544, while the active cases have declined to 6,10,443, according to Union health ministry data updated on Saturday.
The death toll has climbed to 5,07,981 with 804 daily fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.
The daily COVID-19 cases are being recorded at less than one lakh for the last six consecutive days.
The active cases comprise 1.43 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has further improved to 97.37 per cent, the ministry said.
It said a reduction of 87,359 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.
The daily positivity rate has been recorded at 3.48 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate has been recorded at 5.07 per cent, according to the ministry.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease has increased to 4,14,68,120, while the case fatality rate has been recorded at 1.19 per cent.
The cumulative doses administered so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 172.29 crore.
India had crossed two crore cases on May 4 and three crore cases on June 23.
The 804 new fatalities include 492 from Kerala and 63 from Maharashtra.
A total of 5,07,981 deaths have been reported so far in the country, including 1,43,355 from Maharashtra, 61,626 from Kerala, 39,575 from Karnataka, 37,887 from Tamil Nadu, 26,047 from Delhi, 23,382 Srinagar Feb 12: A day after LG Manoj Sinha asked authorities to "ensure enabling environment" for reopening of schools in J&K, the School Education Department in the UT said it will reopen the institutions in Jammu next week and after culmination of winter vacation in Kashmir.
The LG on Friday while reviewing the COVID situation said that the "pandemic situation has improved and authorities can gradually move ahead for reopening of schools and holding offline classes while ensuring complete adherence to SoPs".
Schools in J&K, like rest of India, have mostly been closed since the outbreak of the pandemic in the spring of 2020.
Now, after the LG's directions coupled with a decline in COVID cases of late, the J&K School Education Department is all set to reopen the institutions across the UT as the academic session 2022-23 draws closer.
Principal Secretary School Education Department (SED), Bishwajit Kumar Singh told Greater Kashmir that schools in Jammu are likely to reopen next week adding an official order in this regard might be round the corner.
In Kashmir, the schools will be reopened once the ongoing winter vacation ends by February end.
