The rings of light around this planet of the solar system have never been seen so clearly before. When viewed from a distance, this planet appears enclosed in a round circle of light.
American space agency NASA has shared new pictures of Uranus. These pictures were taken from the James Webb Space Telescope.
Uranus is the seventh planet of our solar system, which is known as Arun Gr aha in Hindi.
When the Voyager 2 spacecraft passed near Uranus in the year 1986, a blue-green ball-like picture of Uranus appeared in its camera. The rings of light were not visible in it.
But according to NASA, with the help of infrared wavelengths, James Webb has just taken pictures of Uranus, which shows that there are bright rings around the planet.
Uranus has a special feature different from other planets of the solar system. It is the only planet that rotates on its axis with an inclination of about 90 degrees.
Due to this, whatever season remains on the planet, it is at its peak. Here, in the polar regions, there is sunlight for years and then there is dense darkness for the same number of years.
Here one year is equal to 84 years
One day on Uranus is 17 hours, 14 minutes, that is, in this time it rotates completely on its axis.
But, its one year is equal to 84 Earth years, i.e. 30,687 days. That is, it takes 84 years for this planet to complete one round of the sun.
It is believed that there are 13 rings around Uranus, and 11 of these rings are seen in the picture taken from James Bay. Some of the rings are looking so bright that they appear to form a huge ring.
Scientists hope that two more rings can be seen in future pictures. The information about these rings was received in 2007.
This picture also shows some of the 27 known moons of Uranus. However, some of these moons are so small that they are not even visible.
Ice sheet on the surface
Uranus consists mostly of lightly melted ice on its hard surface.
Neptune and Uranus are also called ice planets, because they are made of frozen water, methane and ammonia. However, both of them are also gaseous planets like Jupiter and Shani (Saturn).
The blue color of Uranus seen in the picture is shown on the basis of data collected from two filters.
The bright polar part seen in this picture is on the side of the Sun, it is called the Polar Cap. This part is present on the right side of the planet.
When this polar part comes in sunlight, this cap emerges and disappears when the sun sets. How this happens is not yet known.
How long did you see on camera
There is a bright cloud on the edge of the polar cap and another bright cloud on the far left side of the planet. These clouds are probably associated with snow storms.
According to NASA, this picture was captured when Uranus was in front of the camera with two filters for 12 minutes. But, according to NASA, the information received from the James Webb Telescope is still too little to understand this planet.
The $10 billion James Bay Space Telescope was launched in December 2021. It was described as more modern than the famous Hubble Space Telescope.
It can monitor all the nuances of space, but mainly it has two goals. First, to take pictures of the first stars in the universe to shine more than 13.5 billion years ago, and second, to find such planets is where life is expected.
