The iPhone 15 Pro models, like the iPhone 14 Pro versions, will include features not found in the iPhone 15 devices that are less expensive. The iPhone 15 Pro is expected to be 6.1 inches in size, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be 6.7 inches, comparable to the iPhone 14 Pro models.
As of today, Apple appears to be redesigning the iPhone 15 Pro variants with substantially thinner, curved bezels and a new color palette.
All other iPhone 15 models will continue to use the A16 chip featured in the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, while the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will be the only devices to employ the newer 3-nanometer A17 chip. All iPhone 15 models will have the Dynamic Island and the changeover from Lightning to USB-C, but the iPhone 15 Pro series will also have an enhanced USB-C connection with USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3 transfer speeds.
Although the A17 processor is expected to have additional RAM, all iPhone 15 models will use the same 5G Qualcomm modem chip for connectivity. Apple is expected to announce a new Ultrawide Band processor for near-field communications that will be compatible with the Vision Pro headset.
All other iPhone 15 models will retain the A16 chip found in the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, with the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max being the only handsets to use the latest 3-nanometer A17 chip. The Dynamic Island and the switch from Lightning to USB-C will be present in all iPhone 15 models, but the iPhone 15 Pro series will also have an upgraded USB-C connection with USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3 transfer speeds.
Despite the fact that the A17 CPU is rumored to feature more RAM, all iPhone 15 models will share the same 5G Qualcomm modem chip for connectivity. Apple is likely to unveil a new Ultrawide Band processor for near-field communications, which will work with the Vision Pro headset. According to rumors, slimmer bezels will only be available on iPhone 15 Pro models, while standard iPhone 15 devices would stay unaltered.
This, however, is no longer the case. Initially, reports suggested that the iPhone 15 Pro models will have a unified volume button design. Apple is returning to the classic two-button design that it used for the iPhone 14 Pro since the updated one was related with solid-state button technology, which it no longer uses. Because the design has changed, previous images and leaks depicting only one button are no longer true. While there will be no visible changes to the volume controls, Apple is expected to replace the mute switch with a mute button, which corresponds to renders we've seen.
According to renderings made from the device's CAD blueprints, the iPhone 15 Pro Max may be slightly thicker than the iPhone 14 Pro Max and slightly smaller and width. The iPhone 15 Pro Max will be 0.4 mm thicker than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which measures 8.25 mm thick. The edges of the iPhone 15 Pro are expected to be more curved, and the camera bump may be slightly thinner than the camera bulge on the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Furthermore, the bezels will be slightly narrower than on the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are expected to have 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch OLED displays, respectively, with a Dynamic Island cutout for the camera and Face ID technology, similar to the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max.
According to rumors, the chassis of the two Pro models may have received slight alterations. According to Apple Pro, the iPhone 15 Pro models will have considerably thinner bezels than the iPhone 14 Pro variants. Despite having narrower, curved edges, the displays would remain flat, comparable to the Apple Watch Series 7 and Series 8 models.
The iPhone 15 Pro is expected to have 1.55 mm bezels, which would "break the record" for the thinnest bezels on a smartphone. In comparison, the iPhone 14 Pro's bezels are 2.17 mm thick. The size of the bezel on the basic iPhone 15 devices is not expected to change.
According to expert Jeff Pu, the iPhone 15 Pro models may cost higher than the iPhone 14 Pro models. Pu forecasts that the iPhone 15 Pro will start at $1,099, up from $999 for the iPhone 14 Pro. If this is correct, the iPhone 15 Pro Max could start at $1,199. The iPhone 15 variations are expected to be introduced in September, with Apple most likely announcing them in the first two weeks of the month.
