Do you remember how Grandpa bought the family? He would pack his team of horses in a large family cart and go across the plains for a day or more to get to a nearby ‘regular store’. It was just a wonderful trip for the family. The store had all the necessities for the children's store bought candy for mom's ready-made dress. If the store did not have that special item there would always be a catalog option.
After the turn of the century (1900 not 2000) a few notable changes began to change family purchases. America began to grow and emerge - at least to the sea. And the car came in a good way. Now the family could quickly get to the store. My mother loved that, she was able to make more trips in less time.
However, there was an embryo changer in the stores themselves. Population growth made for many stores and various markets. The regular store began to break down. ‘Special’ stores began to emerge. Clothing stores, drug stores, theaters, etc. A whole group of cottage industries began to make an entrance. It is true that the big boys have always been there and growing up. Sears Roebuck and Co, J. C. Penny, and others were still at the forefront, selling through regular catalogs.
As our country grew during World War II, it became increasingly complex. The small village grew into a city. This led to the concept of ‘city square’. Supermarkets were usually on opposite sides of the square and smaller specialty shops filled the spaces. Usually these types of cities were regional seats for having a court house and a government office building. There is another important factor that stood out during this period. Access to information began to grow with the appearance of the Regional Library.
As we entered the 1960s the car introduced a serious problem to family purchases that were completely unexpected. Traffic and Parking began to crowd out the idea of a city square. Sure everyone still wanted to buy, but usually at the same time. It was almost impossible to find a parking meter on the city streets in the city square.
The American intellect, as always, won. We made parking an important thing and called it all a ‘sub-shopping mall’. Now there was free parking and shops in the middle. The next evolution was to put air in the whole shopping mall. What do you dislike? The big boys are no longer in the various locations of the mall. Now there was an unlimited number of specialized expansion shops. Even better, everything was accessible on foot. The only thing left was a courtroom. Now family purchases had moved to heaven.
We have refined and refined this concept in a creative way over the next few decades. Some there during that time the government embarked on a vague or operational system that held the ‘internet’ handle. Now? Nothing happened for a long time. Then came the next amazing launch. The mouse (computer) began to roam. Don't you understand that without the mouse the computer is a black box? Connect and own a personal Computer.
Somewhere in the eternal system of things the endless minds of computer geeks and nerds began to cry and thunder. An online wedding and personal computer happened. Although that is a very useful statement in itself, it would be very serious to do so without comment. It was only a few years back, in the mid-1990s that this happened. This is important to understand so you can focus on the speed of current events, talking online shopping online. It was probably in the period 1994/95 that a company called Netscape came along with its own commercial internet browser. A complete transformation began. It wasn't until about 1996 that Microsoft finally found it and came roaring down the road with their online test. The race was on.
The other side of the story was the development of active online software. Initially the only thing we could find online was file transfer (FTP). Then it becomes clear to the person that if we can not read online why not write on the internet. An incredible idea! Websites are starting to appear everywhere.
We began to see the highway of knowledge. Any company can advertise its global presence with little effort. The Internet browser can now interact with the company's database. After all, it was just a heartbeat until the website was able to sell the products. The effect of this was absolutely profound. Shopping had changed course. Now it was called internet shopping. Family online shopping was born.
Online shopping is now moving so fast that it is almost impossible to continue day by day. However, what is happening around is coming; back in the 1950s, we talked about electricity. Big boys still have their big websites. But now special small shops fill the gaps. They can compete directly with large companies — almost. There are great online stores all over the internet. Home shopping online, and even discount online shopping is growing offline every day
There is now, as always, another set of issues that have arisen and the need to address them. There are literally millions of websites online that will be available or most of the time they CAN FIND. This has led to the growth of another incredibly fast cottage industry in the form of Internet Marketing. Search engines, Pay Per Click (PPC), Website Content etc. everything is now very important on the website.
When you search during online shopping, according to our Purchasing Search, we rarely return a few thousand websites. To truly buy you have to go through one website at a time
