The Dieting Mind Set:

When it comes to dieting, many people set themselves up for failure before even starting the process. They are literally afraid to go on their diet and are planning their mishaps along the way before they even begin the process. Sad to say but true, many dieters are planning their first Rocky Road crash while eating their last bowl of Rocky Road before the big event.

I don't know why we do this to ourselves but it's something I see in dieters everywhere. A much more popular idea is that one should stick to the foods one likes and enjoys the most before starting the dieting process because it is important to completely eliminate these things in order to shed those unwanted pounds. If you are honest with yourself, nothing could be further from the truth. Moderation is just a concept that many of us are loathe to accept.

You have to change the way you think about food and your personal enjoyment of food in order to be successful with any diet. Food is not the enemy. And that's something that a lot of people don't understand. Even 'delicious' foods are not the enemy. The enemy is your personal inability to properly divide the food you eat. The problem is that most of us eat more of the wrong foods than the right foods. This is where the problems lie.

Our bodies need nutrients that we are missing out on by not eating the five servings of vegetables and three servings of fruit that we should be consuming. Our bodies know something is missing and we feel hungry or deprived. If we were actually consuming the right balance of fruits and vegetables every day, we would find that we would be much less likely to get hungry and crave foods that are not healthy. This means we are more likely to enjoy them in moderation as they should be enjoyed.

Portion control is another problem we have. We live in an "upselling" society. Super-sized fries and empty calories from gallons of your favorite cola are served with nearly every fast food meal that can be purchased. You must learn to say no to these things and avoid situations in which you may feel tempted to partake in these oversized orders.

To be truly successful when dieting, you need to embrace the process of making yourself healthier rather than depriving yourself of something. Don't think of your weight loss plan as something negative, but think of it as a positive force in your life to make changes for the better. When you have negative thoughts, don't put them on your diet. When you feel deprived, remind yourself that you are depriving your bones of carrying that extra weight. Remind yourself that you're depriving your wardrobe of bulky clothes designed to hide bulges. Remind yourself that you are shedding years of bulges and getting back the body of your youth.

Don't get so caught up in dieting that you forget to enjoy some of the blessings life has to offer. Watching your weight and counting your calories doesn't mean you can never go over your allotment. However, the goal is to find a balance. If you learn to portion out your meals properly, indulge in moderation, and incorporate enjoyable calorie-burning activities into your daily routine, you may be surprised at the results.

Dieting for weight loss and health only sucks if you let it. If you can't control yourself when it comes to getting involved, then by all means avoid getting involved. However, if you can learn to incorporate these little things into your routine in moderation and burn those extra calories, you should find yourself a happier and more successful dieter than you have been in the past.

Dieting For Success Making It Happen:

Avoiding the mindset of impending failure is much closer. Many people have tried so many diets in their past and failed that they try the next new diet with the full knowledge that they will fail at that as well. what do you think? He will.

Henry Ford once said, "If you think you can or think you can't, you're always right." If you think you're going to fail this diet, you're setting yourself up for failure before you've even deprived yourself of the first bite. Think about it before you start because only a true masochist can find joy in continuing this vicious cycle without stopping to wonder why none of the other diets worked for you. Henry Ford also said, "Failure is just an opportunity to start over smarter". In case you were wondering, I'd say his words are pretty deep. Seriously though, if you don't examine the reasons for your failures you are definitely dooming yourself to repeat them and if you are already planning to fail then why on earth would you even try. will

You are the only person who can control your need for food. You are the only one who can pay attention and focus when you are eating for emotional fulfillment and when you are eating out of need. You and you alone can get yourself out of your chair and onto your feet. Only you can take responsibility for the situation you find yourself in. There are medical exceptions, but even in those situations if you're trying diet after diet and failing over and over again, you should realize at some point that it's probably not the diet that's working.

We all have to be accountable for our successes and failures in life. It's no different when it comes to dieting. There are few better feelings in the world than having someone see and appreciate your efforts. If you're unfortunately very fat, it may take a little longer for people to actually notice the weight you've lost. Too many men and women give up simply because no one notices and that's an incredible shame. Give your dieting methods a chance to work before you decide they're a failure and you may surprise yourself with roaring success.

The truth is that very few people hold themselves accountable for their diet and weight loss goals. This means that many people are giving up without even trying. If you have trouble holding yourself accountable to your diet plans, you might do well to diet with a partner. It not only helps you set goals but also helps you face and overcome challenges along the way. A partner can also benefit from a partnership because he will be challenged and feel the need to do better than if he were abstinent alone.

To achieve lasting results you must hold yourself accountable to your stated dieting and weight loss goals. If you haven't had success with altruism in the past, maybe it's time to bring some measure of accountability into the picture and make it happen.
