How the demand for Halloween costumes grows every year?

The trend towards Halloween costumes has skyrocketed in recent years. These outfits outpaced the demand for children's costumes, leading companies to increase their stock of these types of clothing by leaps and bounds. Big buyers are also asking for more and more of these costumes.

Whether it's the influence of shows like"the City" or the convergence of fashion even on vacation,  costumes are in fashion for all ages. These outfits show more leg and stomach and feature different versions of classic characters. Additionally, while many shoppers put a cap on what they're willing to spend on costumes, they often go a little extra for accessories needed to complete an outfit, such as wigs, eyelashes, nails and jewelry.

Fashionable overlap in all areas of life, and Halloween is no exception. Halloween's costumes are increasingly showing contemporary styles and using higher quality fabrics and embellishments. Fashion-conscious shoppers want to wow other party goers rather than scare them, and they know exactly what they want to achieve with this trick. For these shoppers, Halloween has become less of a holiday and more of a reason to show off their style. Where Halloween once existed in its own realm, it is now an event that has become in line with style trends.

While Halloween costumes date back in some shape or form to at least the Victorian era, the demand for them crystallized in the age of discos and camel toes. It should come as no surprise that an era defined in part by its tectonic shifts in women's and gay rights would also inspire the wildest, raunchiest, and most outrageous Halloween parties. According to Halloween historian Lesley Bannatyne, the city's prominent queer neighborhoods from Greenwich Village to the Castro added more than a dash of wink and nudge to the annual affair. "Combine second-wave feminism with outrageous and a general air of freedom, and you have the perfect whirlwind of outrageous costumes, she told TIME.

But according to a 2006 NY Times report, the flamboyantly Halloween costume didn't become strict until the turn of the century. In that article, the then-buying director for BuyCostumes.com admitted that an estimated 90 to 95 percent of the retailer's costumes for women had at least a "flirty touch," requiring the site to dissect its  offerings. Into three separate subcategories. Browsing the site nine years later, I noticed that there are now four.

The area that will expand this year and in the years to come is the middle ground. Parents and kids don't always agree on what's tasteful and what's not, and even adults sometimes disagree on what's comfortable for them to wear. Some customers simply want to be flirty and playful, while others desire a more revealing look. The debate between what's not consume enough will continue, but companies are entering the fray by offering more costumes that fall somewhere in the middle.

The best news for shoppers is that with increased demand and competition among businesses that sell Halloween costumes, quality, creativity and choice are on the rise. The result is better and better costumes with more variety and sizes – and the customer always wins in these situations.
