Batman director Matt Reeves explains how he will introduce Superman to his Bat-Verse. Reeves is the latest filmmaker to deal with Batman actor in the film alone, Robert Pattinson who has played an amazing role in the independent non-DCEU. That last single Bat-film that captivated the screens of Christopher Nolan's theater The Dark Knight Rises with actor Christian Bale in the lead role. Since then, Batman has appeared in group films, the latest of which was Zack Snyder's Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, both of which starred Ben Affleck under the hood.
Batman V Superman is the first time Batman and Superman have appeared together in a film, which continues in the Justice League. Henry Cavill played the latest DCEU version of Superman, which debuted with Man of Steel in 2013. There are many projects with a Superman theme in the works, but it is unclear if any of them could include a character who is working with Batman in any position. Interestingly, Reeves' The Batman works on his own "Bat-Verse," which differs from the same DCEU in which the BVS and Justice League take place, which means they may or may not have superpowers.

Speaking to Collider, Reves was asked if Superman was in his Bat-Verse or, if not, how he could be informed. Reeves went on to explain that his take on The Batman (along with Cloverfield and his POTA films) had to be "based as much as possible" by focusing on only one exciting thing to do everything else around "emotionally." The director said that the introduction of Superman-like aliens would be "shocking" to the atmosphere. Reman says that if the challenge presents itself, it will eventually have to do with the same lens as The Batman. Here is his full statement:
Look, we should be lucky that this world people who accept it say, My God, we want to see what will happen when those things collide. I think if that challenge ever came up, it would be fun to explore, but I will have to try to do it with this lens. You know what I mean? And that's exactly right, that right now, for me, this world is the place I want to focus.
Superman's projects currently in both works involve the Black version of the character, which does not have a clear agenda as to whether Cavill's version will reappear or not. J.J. Abrams and Ta-Nehihi Coates are working to bring the reported re-launch of Kal-El as Black Superman to the big screen, while Michael B. Jordan is working on the smaller Val-Zod series, alternate dimension Superman. Recently the current DCEU version of Superman appeared (in the shadows and outside of Cavill in the studio) of the event on HBO Max's Peacemaker, but about any upcoming appearances, little is known.
Reeves' take on how he introduced Superman to his Bat-Verse is not all that different from Zack Snyder's version, which treats Kal-El's arrival as an international attack that changed everything, rather than simply introducing the character without explanation. For that reason, Superman in Reeves' Bat-Verse is quite possible, but it sounds like the director is determined to focus on The Batman's world-class players, especially Gotham City. Even with all the levels of Batman movies past, there are still a lot of Batman legends, characters, and locations that need to be thoroughly explored before it enters the DC universe, so Reeves sticks to Bat-Verse, for now. , is an acceptable occupation.
