How success Lessons From Baseball Enthusiasm And Excitement Can Make The Difference

I remember, almost 35 years ago, reading two books by Frank Better, a baseball player, about how zeal made a difference in his life. His books made a difference in my life at the time and are still worth reading and re-reading.

Perhaps his most famous book is “How I Can Grow Up With Marketing Fails And Success in Marketing”. Frank died in 1981 but his books and important ideas continue.

In 1907, he played Johnstown baseball in Pennsylvania for $175 a month. He was young and ambitious but was fired for his laziness. He was not really lazy, 'but' he was trying to control himself by falling asleep.

His supervisor told him: “Anything you can do after leaving here, because of the weather, get up and put your life and work into your life.

Frank traveled to Chester, Pennsylvania, where he played baseball for only $25 a month. Frank commented: “I did not feel particularly enthusiastic about this kind of money, but I did.

A few days later, he was in court in New Haven, Connecticut. No one knew him in that league until he decided to make a name for himself. Once suspended, he will be forced to live up to his dignity:

“Ever since I left the stadium, I have been pretending to be an electrician. I pretend I live on a million batteries. ”

Frank threw the ball hard and quickly near the diamond and ran like crazy to score for his team. All of this was a hot day when the temperature was 100 degrees. This action worked like magic.

His fear worked for him by putting his energy into action. His enthusiasm touched other players on the field, 'and' they became enthusiastic. He felt better during the game and after it than before.

The next day, a newspaper in New Haven wrote: “This newcomer, The Best, is in the thick of it. He encouraged our boys. Not only did they win the game, but they looked better than before this season. ”

Papers started calling him "Pep" Best, team life. Enthusiasm raises his ten-day salary from $25 a month to $185 a month. This was an increase of 700%.

Better emphasizes that he earns not only because of his talent, but also because of the enthusiasm he has. He could not catch or hit better than before. Two years later he played for the 3rd base of the St Louis Cardinals.

Two years later, he injured his arm and was forced out of baseball. Two years later, he ended up selling life insurance. He became so disillusioned with life that he even went to Dale Carnegie's public talk. Carnegie, as his first boss, told him to be enthusiastic.

Carnegie then gave a stirring talk to his class. He was so excited that he threw the chair against the wall and broke one leg. All of this reminded Frank of his first experience in the world of baseball.

“That night, I decided to stay in the insurance business and invest in my baseball career.

During his first sale price after this decision, he was so excited that he punched. He couldn't believe it when his client listened intently and bought insurance. He does not equate excitement with boxing, but “if boxing is the one that needs to get up the inside, it means I have a lot of power in it. What I know: When I force myself to do things, I immediately have a positive attitude. ”

Frank has continued to be a great salesman and a man who has encouraged many other retailers and ordinary citizens to live their lives with enthusiasm.

An enthusiastic seller can surpass an unscrupulous seller with extensive experience. An enthusiastic person is like a magnet. He seduces and encourages others to do what they think is best for them.

You can gain enthusiasm easily and quickly by forcing yourself to do things with enthusiasm. It is also helpful to read your favorite verses of encouragement every day.

Frank, himself, was inspired by a good quote from Walter Chrysler. When Chrysler was asked to provide the secret to success, he listed qualities such as ‘skills, strength, and strength’ but added that the real secret was ‘zeal.’

"Yes, in addition to enthusiasm," said Chrysler, "I would say 'happiness.' I like to see men happy. When they are happy they make our customers happy, 'and' we do business. "

Enthusiasm can make a big difference. We can all benefit from being enthusiastic about something we find boring right now. We may be surprised at how happy we are and how capable we are. We can also note that the flames of our zeal soon spread to other people.

We can end up in ‘big parties’ of whatever we like, and we can have a lot of friends, fun and extra money!
