Space VideosĀ  I How To Put Video On Your Website Video File Types :

You can take the next shuttle to the moon or planet Mars on NASA's dime. Will you jump for joy and suit up, or will you cringe at the thought of leaving this planet's atmosphere? I'm on the fence with that. Part of me wants to see and experience outer space so badly, but another part of me is terrified. It is difficult to connect death with outer space. After all, we've seen what can happen to those billion-dollar space shuttles. I think for many of us, it's best to stick with Planet, Current Space Video or DVD. This way we can get a glimpse of what our universe has to offer, but without the risk.

Millions of us watched as a civilian, a school teacher, boarded a shuttle bound for outer space. This was in the 1980s, so I was in primary school at the time. My teacher happily flipped on the television for our entire class to watch in amazement. Unfortunately, our surprise was not related to seeing a successful take-off. Some aspect of the space shuttle was faulty and everything went wrong. Life ended and hopes shattered. It was undoubtedly a frustrating day for NASA. However, there have been many successful trips to outer space as well. You can catch the highlights on a contemporary space video or DVD at home. Teach your kids what NASA people have done over the years.

Obviously there's more to being involved with NASA than watching a space video or two and feeling passionate about astronomy. If you're really into stars and moons, I suggest you get a college degree in astronomy or physics. Even better, most people with a passion for outer space will go the extra mile and get a Ph.D. That way you can become a professor, teaching the wonders of astronomy, or possibly even a position at NASA. That would be amazing! Imagine telling people you know you work for NASA. Who can compete with that?

If you want to put video on your website, you should have a good knowledge of the basic video file types. What type of video file should be used? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each file type? These are just some of the questions you should ask yourself before moving forward with implementing video on your web pages.

There are three basic types of video files on the Internet. MPEG, AVI and Quicktime. I believe the QuickTime file type is the most popular because many entertainment and news sites use it exclusively on their web pages.

AVI is the oldest of the three main file types. It is a Windows-based video format but is not the most popular due to audio and video compatibility and synchronization issues. Since the QuickTime format can be used on Windows or Macintosh computers, the AVI video file type loses its popularity every day.

The MPEG format is a popular video file type that uses its high output quality to increase its popularity over the Quicktime format. Mpeg is used on video games, cd-roms and other media that require high output quality. One disadvantage of MPEG is that it sacrifices file size to achieve digital quality. MPEG video files are usually large.

Another disadvantage of MPEG format is that you really need time and sophisticated hardware and software to convert plain video to MPEG. And let's not forget that the MPEG format is not supported by Apple and Macintosh, meaning that if you put an MPEG video on your website, Macintosh users won't be able to see it.

QuickTime is the most popular video file type ever produced by Apple for Macintosh users, but it is also compatible with IBM-compatible machines and the Windows operating system. The hardware and software you need to digitize video into the QuickTime format is much cheaper than the MPEG format. So it's very easy and cheap to create a video using the Quicktime format and put it on your website.
