T20 World Cup 2021, South Africa vs West Indies Highlights: South Africa beat defending champions West Indies by eight wickets in their second Super 12 match of the ICC T20 World Cup at the Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday. Opener Even Lewis struck a fine half-century before South Africa restricted West Indies to 143/8. In response, South Africa batters overhauled the target with 10 balls to spare. The RVD (43 not out), Aiden Mark ram (51 not out) and Reza Hendricks (39) played match-winning knocks as West Indies bowlers looked on helplessly.
Brief Scores: West Indies: 143 for 8 in 20 overs (Evan Lewis 56, Kieron Pollard 26); D P (3/17) K Maharajah (2/24). South Africa: 144 for 2 in 18.2 overs (RVD 43, Aiden Mark ram 52; A Hosein 1/27). So that's it from this interesting contest, then. South Africa have got their first win. West Indies are sitting with two losses and the poorest net run rate in the group. It's going to take an unbelievable effort from here for them to advance. Still time left. For now, let's hop tabs to catch the exciting game between New Zealand and Pakistan. See you all there! Temba BAVU | South Africa captain: Much better than our first game. I think the conversations we have on the field are a lot shorter, a lot clearer on what to do, and they (RAB ADA and a rich nor) pass on information to other bowlers as well. We were all watching that (ENG v WI) game, but weren't sure how the wicket was going to react, so we thought Aiden could have a go, and he did well.
Kieron Pollard | West Indies captain: We haven't scored enough runs. Not losing wickets in the power play was important. We lost a couple of wickets later, and it was just stop start. RVD played for them, the only difference is he came out not out, but his strike rate was low as well. A rich Nor | Player of the Match: 100 percent, it's (playing in the UAE) helped me quite a lot. Just having the confidence of knowing the conditions and understanding what to do, when to do it, definitely has helped me come here. We said we were quite happy with that happened in the game (against Australia). With the batting, we wanted to improve. What the guys did out there was awesome. Hopefully we can build on this. I don't think we're close to a perfect game, but we can keep on building and try to get as close to that perfect game as possible. That's all I want to do - just keep on improving every day. BAVU opted to bowl and his bowlers were brilliant at the start. West Indies scored just 6 runs in the first three overs. Lewis then took on Mark ram as BAVU over bowled him at that point trying to buy another cheap/wicket-taking over. Suddenly West Indies got 30 runs in the next 2 overs, but Lends Simmons just couldn't find the gaps, forget middling the ball. Lewis got a 35-ball fifty, but it was negated because Simmons wasn't even striking at 50. West Indies were beaten 2-3 in their own backyard a few months ago and South Africa have beaten them here at the World Cup too. They had this sealed with the ball in hand, literally
