According to Global Data's power industry contracts database, 58 solar technology contracts were announced in June 2022, a decline of 61% from the 147 contracts announced during the previous 12-month period. When examining the volume of worldwide power contracts by technology type in June 2022, solar kept the top spot in terms of contracts with 46.4 %. As per Global Data's power sector contracts database, there were 20 energy storage contracts reported in the North American area in Q2 2022, which is a decrease of 29% from the previous four quarters' average of 28.
According to Global Data's tracking of solar technology for the month, the % of contracts per category was as follows:
- 28 contracts under the power purchase agreement, representing a 48.3 % share
- 24 contracts and a 41.4 % share were for project implementation. Three contracts and a 5.2% share were for consulting and related services.
- Two contracts and a 3.4 % stake are for supply and erection.
- One contract and a 1.7 % share are allocated to repairs, maintenance, and upgrades.
Asia to Pacific will dominate solar contract activity in June 2022 :
When comparing the volume of solar technology contracts across the world in June 2022, Asia-Pacific held the top spot with 33 contracts and a share of 56.9%, followed by Africa And the Middle East with nine contracts and a share of 15.5 %, and North America with seven contracts and a share of 12.1%.
Europe came in the fourth position with seven contracts and a 12.1 % stake, and South and Central America came in fifth with two contracts and a 3.4 % share. As per Global Data's power sector contracts database, 89 T&D project contracts were reported in the Asia-Pacific area in Q2 2022, an increase of 82% over the previous four quarters' average of 49.
Top firms by capacity for solar technology contracts in June 2022:
According to the electricity capacity involved, the leading solar technology contract issuers for the month were:
- Indian company NHPC: 700 MW from two contracts.
- Electric Power in China: 260.27 MW under a single contract.
- 200 MW of capacity from a single contract between the United States and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution (India).
Best winners by energy contracts for solar technology in June 2022:
In terms of the electricity capacity involved, the top contracts for the month were:
- India's Infrastructure: 600 MW from a single deal.
- Shandong Construction in China won three contracts for 430 MW.
- China Energy Engineering (China): Four contracts totaling 270 MW of capacity.
This research uses data from Global Data's Power database, which includes power plants, capacity, equipment markets, T&D projects, analysis reports, and generation, and records tenders and contracts in real-time, to include all publicly-announced contracts. According to Global Data's power sector contracts database, 42 T&D equipment contracts were announced in the Europe area in Q2 2022, an increase of 17% over the previous four quarters' average of 36. With 62 contracts and a 27.2 percent share in the second quarter of 2022, Power Plant led all other power tender categories in the Europe area. It was followed by Generation Equipment and T&D Equipment, each of which had 42 contracts and an 18.4 percent share.
