A positive image of the body is what we should all strive for. It is when you know yourself and who you are. You have a very accurate estimate of your size, shape, and weight. You see yourself as you are now. You accept yourself, even though you may be overweight. You believe in yourself and love yourself while still striving for something better. When your body image is positive, it takes no time to get obsessed with food, weight, calories, exercise, etc. You are proud of who you are and feel comfortable in your body.
Many people with an eating disorder do not have a positive image of their bodies. Instead, they have very distorted images of how they see themselves. Here are six ways to create a positive body image for yourself.
1. Make a list of the people you admire. Write down why you admire everyone. As you write your favorite features, take note of what you are writing.
For example, we say you have a lot of respect for opera. Your list may include her generosity towards people, her willingness to support what she believes in, and the strong character that will lead her to success, regardless of her background. Have come You don't appreciate opera because of its shape. You appreciate what a difference it has made in the world. To contribute to society. How it touched and changed so many lives.
2. Remember a time in your life when you felt very good about yourself.
Travel to a time in your life when you were happy with your body. Maybe it was high school or college. Whatever the time, just close your eyes and remember how you felt. Let these good feelings spread within you.
3. Now write down what you like about yourself.
Take out a piece of paper and write down everything you like about yourself: your legs, your eyebrows, your smile, your hair, and so on. The key here is to focus on your choices instead of many dislikes. Start praising what you like about yourself. It will make you feel better overall.
4. See how you carry yourself as you walk.
Do you walk with your head down looking at the ground? Are you shrugging your shoulders? Revive up! Start walking and start making eye contact with people. Keep your head up Walk with your shoulders back.
5. Start exercising.
If you haven't exercised in a while, start slowly. Go out for a walk on a good day. If you are used to exercising, keep up the good work and change your routine so that you do not get bored. When you exercise you start to feel good about yourself, even if it is only for 15 minutes. Start slowly and work your way up.
6. Spend time with positive people.
Take a look at the people closest to you. Are they positive or negative people? Chances are that if they are negative then this attitude will show on you and your attitude. Try to limit your time to any negative as it will only make you feel bad about yourself. You will focus on the things you don't like about yourself.
Start feeling good about yourself and learn to accept yourself. Gradually you will see the changes that have taken place. Learn to be with yourself instead of always being against you. Put your shoulders back and stop thinking about what you are not. Love the person you are and the person you are becoming
