We are presented with the same dilemma each season: which items to keep, which toss, and which to purchaseIf you're like me, you go through your drawers and closet and find jeans from two seasons ago, denim skirts, raggedy T-shirts, and cargo shorts that are so out of style. For the upcoming fashion season, the old is out and the new is in, especially for casual wear.
But what should you look for when you go shopping? While some of the more severe denim treatments of earlier times are no longer appropriate, denim is still an essential component of the casual wardrobe. Slubbing is still popular, but embellishment is the thing to look for. This season, the story isn't such a lot of rhinestones as it is weaving. Men's and women's jeans with geometric designs stitched on should be your top priority. For instance, look for designer jeans with the brand's logo prominently displayed on the front, just below the pocket, or jeans with triangles running down one leg. Black jeans for men are also back, so keep an eye out for the sophisticated appearance of black denim.
Denim shorts are also available this season; however, opt for a style that falls below the knee instead of shorts. It's a nod to pedal pushers, but the shorts are definitely longer than they were in previous seasons. This holds true for missy and plus sizes alike.
What about tops, then? The variety story is season is solids, yet solids are going from splendid marina blue to coral to the more stifled khaki. T-shirts come in a wide range of designs, including tank tops, polos, and plain round-neck tees. Again, designer logos are prominent, either on the front of the shirt or on the back, just below the neckline, for a more subdued statement.
You should be aware that some newer designers are making a splash before you rush to the mall. Look at the web-based contributions of the newcomers. By being one of the first to "discover" the next hip label, you'll get a discount on your purchase as well as the chance to stand out from the crowd.
Also, keep in mind that even though you want to be trendy this season, you don't want to look like everyone else. Always remember that you make your clothes, not your clothes. To make fashion your own, here are five suggestions:
1.Invest in accessories because they express who you are. Choose unique and eye-catching pieces without going overboard.
2.You can look dowdy in a designer gown that costs a million dollars if you don't have the confidence to wear it. Attitude is everything. Hold your head high and know that you belong, no matter what you wear, even a T-shirt and women's jeans.
3.Don't Forget the Shoes: A great outfit can be ruined by the wrong shoes. Check to see that the style of your shoes matches the style of your clothes.
4.Don't be a slave to fashion; have fun. Have fun with it and don't stress over the smallest details. Experiment.Be brave. You might even be surprised.
5.Share the Joy: Do you remember those worn-out clothes from the previous season or year? Donate them to a worthy charity. Your scraps will undoubtedly brighten someone's day.
