धृतिः क्षमा दमोऽस्तेय शौचं इन्द्रियनिग्रहः।
धीर्विद्या सत्यं अक्रोधो दशक धर्मलक्षणम्।। (मनुस्मृति)
That is, patience, forgiveness, control over the mind, not stealing, staying clean, controlling the senses, using intelligence, acquiring knowledge, walking on the path of truth, not getting angry are the ten signs of Dharma (religion).
Religion is a way of life, it is the basis of life. In the eyes of all of us, religion has different meanings, some consider worship only as religion and some consider their actions as religion etc. The above verse, which has been taken from the Hindu text Manuscript, describes the ten characteristics of religion, the same religion, which is presently out of the society. Slowly getting extinct. We are losing patience, forgiveness is as if we have forgotten, and anger is clinging to us like a shadow because, where do we know the true and proper meaning of religion, from childhood we are told 'this is an idol of God, worshiping it is your religion', in the same way, from childhood, children are tied up in all these pretensions. If you want anything, ask God, don't work for it. You can simply say that the present form of religion teaches us to ask. According to them, God says that you come to my temple and bow your head in front of my idol, tell me your problem then I will solve it. Fast in my name, worship me, perform Oblation and get the thing of your choice. Now you tell me that God is our father, we have been created from him, so how can a father tell his children to be hungry that 'you fast for one day only then I will bring toys, chocolates for you.' Isn't this hypocrisy?
If you do not worship God, he will get angry and punish you. Hey brother! He is God, who works, Salvation, Artha, Punishment, Anger, Happiness and Unhappiness, He is beyond all worldly illusions, He is God, He never gets angry, He never asks for anything. Those greedy few are the ones who will fulfill your desires by offering mere enjoyment, they say that man should do work and fulfill the desires himself. That is why we should not run towards the fruit, but towards the action.
Religion is for the ease of man and not man for religion. We should do our work only by not bowing towards this external ostentation because the religion which is prevalent among us today in our society, we should do our work. Teaches not to do, but to ask from God. And We only get what we work for. Therefore, consider your works, actions as your religion. Be patient, control the mind and senses, keep forgiveness, keep yourself away from anger, this is the real religion.
