LAHORE: PTI chief Imran Khan is confident that Chief Minister C H-A U D H R Y P-A R V-E Z E L-A H-I will dissolve the Punjab Assembly soon after taking a vote of confidence.
With the dissolution of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies, the powers that will be compelled to hold elections, and I foresee the polls in April, Mr Khan told the media at his residence in Z-A M-A N Park on Sunday. This statement came in the midst of the growing debate among Pakistani T-E H R-I K.
In the same sentence, he made the explicit claim that, "I am in touch with the new [military] establishment".
Before the high court holds its next hearing on the Punjab government's plea against the governor's "unconstitutional" order to R-E M O V-E the chief minister and his cabinet on January 11, the PTI wants the chief minister to give the vote of confidence.
Mr Khan had stated a day earlier that the critical economic situation did not warrant holding the elections beyond February or March, and he had predicted that the elections would be held in March or April.
He reiterated his position that new elections were required and that a government mandated by the public could control the declining economy and put it back on the road to growth and prosperity.
C M E L-A H-I has been outspoken about delaying the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly until the end of its term, despite the fact that the PML-Q in the public is fully supportive of Imran Khan's decision.
M I N-I S E L-A H-I, the chief minister's son, is in direct communication with Mr. Khan, he has advised the PTI to hold off on the vote of confidence and first let the Lahore High Court decide whether the governor's order to D-E N O T-I F Y the chief minister and summon a session during an ongoing session is valid.
According to PTI sources, the party was also thinking about whether it could get the 186 House members needed to win the confidence vote because some M P-A S were overseas. However, the party was certain that, in the worst-case scenario, it would secure Mr E L-A H-I reinstatement in a run-off vote count.
They also stated that the PML-Q leadership was correct in advising Mr Khan to first ensure he would win elections in Punjab and KP 90 days after the dissolution of both houses
He says the PTI chief constituted a committee, led by party Vice Chairman Shah M-A H M U D Q U R-E S H-I, which has met thrice and is discussing constituency - wise seat adjustment
On the occasion of Muhammad Ali Jinnah's birth anniversary, PTI leader Imran Khan posted a tweet earlier in the day. This leads to "Real Freedom", which is true freedom and upholds the rights of citizens. In a resulting tweet, Mr. Khan wrote: "They are shielded from the elite takeover of the state and government as a result of this".
Unfortunately, the elite's capture of Pakistan enabled powerful institutions and mafias to remain above the law as if it were their right because the rule of law was never established there. In the meantime, the head of the PTI also presided over a meeting of the media strategy committee and decided to be tough on the government of the Pakistan Democratic Movement.
According to sources, the leadership of the PTI decided to use the media to their advantage against the PDM government and planned to "campaign" against the alleged anti-national actions of the incumbent rulers
