How nutrition is Important

Adolescence ushers in a slew of significant changes. The rate of growth has accelerated dramatically. This growth spurt is caused by the activity of hormones that affect every organ of the body, making healthy eating essential. Nutrient requirements rise throughout childhood, peak in adolescence, and then level off or even decrease as the teenager grows into an adult. The adage "you are what you eat" appears to be true. We eat a variety of foods such as DAL, chapatti, bread, rice, vegetables, milk, lassie, and so on. All of these various foods provide us with nutrients that keep us healthy and active. It is critical to understand what foods to eat in order to stay healthy. Food science and nutrition.

Nutrition and health are, in fact, two sides of the same coin. They are thus inseparable. Nutrition influences health, and nutrition influences food intake. So food is the most important single factor in health and fitness.

Let's define and explain food, nutrition, health, and fitness.

• Food is defined as any solid or liquid that, when swallowed, digested, and assimilated in the body, supplies it with essential substances known as nutrients and keeps it healthy. It is a basic requirement of life. Food provides energy and allows for the growth and repair of tissues and organs. It also keeps the body healthy and regulates body functions. Nutrition is defined as the study of foods, nutrients, and other substances, as well as their actions within the body, such as ingestion, digestion, absorption, metabolism, and excretion. While this summarizes the physiological aspects of nutrition, it also has social, psychological, and economic dimensions.

Nutrients are food components that must be supplied to the body in adequate amounts. Carbohydrates, proteins, fats, minerals, vitamins, water, and fiber are examples. To stay healthy, we require a diverse range of nutrients. Most foods contain more than one nutrient, such as milk, which contains proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. Nutrients are classified as macronutrients or micronutrients based on the amount required for daily consumption.

A well-balanced diet

A balanced diet includes a variety of foods in adequate amounts and proportions to meet the day's requirements of all essential nutrients such as proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, water, and fiber. Such a diet promotes and preserves good health while also providing a safety margin or reserve of nutrients to withstand short periods of deprivation when they are not supplied by the diet.

The safety margin accounts for fasting days or short-term nutrient deficiencies in the daily diet. If a balanced diet meets an individual's Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA), then the safety margin is already included because RDA are calculated with extra allowances in mind.

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as "the state of complete physical, emotional, and social well-being, not merely the absence of diseases or infirmity." This definition has remained unchanged since 1948.

We all want to be in good physical, social, and mental health. Adequate intake of essential nutrients in our diet is required to maintain good health.

The most easily understood aspect is probably physical health. Mental health is defined as a state of emotional and psychological well-being in which an individual is able to use cognitive and emotional abilities, function in society, and meet the ordinary demands of daily life. In other words, the absence of a recognized mental disorder is not a guarantee of mental health.
