This question rises in my when I look at statistics for covid-19 vaccination. In January, 67% of the population in richer nations had been fully vaccinated, whereas only 8% in poorer nations have received their first dose, WHO figures show. How shameful is it?
America has that much stock of vaccines, America can vaccinate its population 2 times whereas Canada can vaccinate its population 3 times.
If we look up some African countries like Burundi(0.1% of the population is fully vaccinated), Congo(0.2% of the population is fully vaccinated), Haiti (0.7% of the population is fully vaccinated), Chad(0.8% of the population is fully vaccinated) these are only some examples of poor countries there is a huge list of countries.
Another propaganda of Richer countries is they donate only those vaccine stocks whose expiry date is close. Why want to improve their international image like a diamond but the reality is different. They are storing fresh stock of covid-19 vaccines. Richer countries start giving booster doses to their population whereas some countries are not able to vaccinate even 1% of their population. Due to the close expiry date, many African countries denied taking vaccines from these countries or donating by these countries. Poor countries do not have good infrastructure for fast vacation. And this also makes delay International Programs to help poor countries during covid19.
Vacation price discrimination between the countries. This is just an example but if you look at all companies who are producing or making covid-19 vaccines have the same type of financial profit profile. The new covid-19 variant means a new product for these pharma companies it is completely true for these companies. This is seen in the stock market at the price of their shares after founding a new variant of covid-19. After founding a new variant in South Africa on 24 November the 8 inventors of Pfizer and Moderna was reached USD 10billion. This shows the fear of covid19. These companies use a business model named 'fear’. Moderna was in a loss in 2020 up to 4000 crore Rupees and after launching its vaccine in the market company has the profit of 52,500 crore rupees profits. If one other multinational company Pfizer the company was making a profit of 60 Thousand Crore rupees and after launching his covid19 vaccine in the market company start making a profit of 1.42 lakh crore rupees profit.
