How Metabolism work

It is the chemical process by which the body converts food and other nutrients into energy. This conversion of energy involves several steps, including a series of reactions that turn nutrients into energy and one final step called recycling. What are the different metabolic pathways in humans? The number of pathways that your cells can use to convert energy into chemical energy are numerous.

This means that your cells depend on an abundant source of specific nutrients like amino acids to produce energy. There are three types of pathways in your cell: the citric acid cycle (acidic), the oxidative (red), and NADH/NAD+ (NAD+). What do foods do to help metabolize carbohydrates? There are two main sources for your insulin cells, namely glucose and fructose.

These two nutrients can be used to transform complex sugar, such as fructose, into simple sugar that you can release from your pancreas. When you have these sugars available to be ingested, the liver can convert them into sugar for insulin release. Some products like sucrose or dextrose can also be metabolized into sugar. What are the different forms of ketoacidosis? Also known as “ketoacidosis” or “acid-base imbalance”, some people may experience this symptom when they suffer from epilepsy.

It is commonly referred to as a neurological condition when the brain creates its own pH value for its muscles. Your muscles will then release more water than they should during exercise. Your kidneys will also produce a greater amount of hydrogen ions because there will more fluids in your blood. You could have low concentration levels of potassium if this happens over time. Other examples of these common electrolyte imbalances include hypokalemia, hyponatremia, hypobionticemia, hyperventilation syndrome, migraines. What is the difference between diabetes and prediabetes? Both types of diabetes are conditions where the hormone insulin is not fully metabolized and remains in your bloodstream without being used.

This leads to high blood sugar levels where your cells cannot control what sugar enters your system. In prediabetes, your blood sugar levels remain above the normal range. People who develop type 2 diabetes tend to have no symptoms or have fewer tests to be done to diagnose diabetes, but may still be at risk for developing Type 1 Diabetes. Prediabetes can be diagnosed through blood tests to measure different biomarkers like HbA1c, total cholesterol, triglycerides, etc. With Diabetes Type 1, a person still has to spend time getting tested for prediabetes. On the other hand, with prediabetes, the symptoms are found before a patient starts having diabetes.

Once you have both types, you could also get prediabetes in the form of elevated sugar levels after not feeling any symptoms. What causes Type II Diabetes? As you know, it is due to your body’s inability to make insulin in adequate amounts in response to insulin-induced hypoglycemia. If this occurs often enough, your cells won't have a sufficient supply of the protein needed to manufacture insulin.

The body’s response to insulin can happen both ways: increased consumption of the sugar, or too much insulin consumption, also known as beta-cell dysfunction. Your cells can make insulin too well when their glucose content is reduced. This results in the formation of very large insulin-induced adipocytes. Those cell cells can cause insulin resistance. What causes T1D? It is caused by inflammation of the white fat cells. White fat can lead to obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and inflammation.

According to Dr. Peter Beyer, you can become diabetic when white fat cells release inflammatory mediators that block the action of insulin. As explained by him in his article, inflammation does not need prediabetes. Instead, it may lead to pre-diabetes once a person does not take the necessary precautions to prevent getting diabetes and taking prescribed medication.
