When I was the manager of Venue Media at the Commonwealth Games, I got a very good presentation of the places I was watching. Some people ask me what my secret is. I first asked them what they were doing and found that some of them had the idea of viewing the media as something to blame, abstaining and giving as little as possible. And the media did not care.
There are many people who treat the media this way and when it comes to their business, then hope that the media will give them good news and good news. This is a disaster receipt. First, true media does not have the time or power to "GET" everyone. Often, people end up worrying or panicking.
They may say something dumb or wrong, or attack a journalist who does his job. In many cases, the media have no private motive and are simply collecting information. If you do something stupid, remember, though, it is not the job of the media to help you get out of a predicament.
When you treat people with respect, they are more likely to treat you the same way. Yes, there may be exceptions, but in most cases, I have found that it was never really me and more about what was happening to them at the time.
For example, I had three cases where people were very unkind to me, and in each case, they came back with an apology or gift of peace. Each of them was dealing with personal problems and / or had a bad day. In forgiveness, you create a friend, someone who is more willing to help you in the future.
Remember, we need symbiotic relationships with the media. There will be times when you want to announce an upcoming event, success or change in your organization etc. The way you treat them in the past will have an impact on what kind of service you will receive and whether it is good or not.
The media can provide you with the most important free streaming and third-party donations. This inclusion gives credence to what you do or say. And if something goes wrong, the media may cover the story whether you cooperate or not. For the most part, it is better to have your comment included than to have part of the facts or speculate to continue.
If it is a special event that will last a short time, coffee, snacks and smiles go a long way in staying and providing a good spread. The cost of coffee and potato treatment is small compared to the cover you can get. Oh, and my secret, that's just it. I treated them as human beings. I asked for coffee.
When the game was over, I took the break to the player and the coaches at the restaurant and gave them sandwiches and drinks. They were able to get good interviews, and we got a good spread. This can be a metaphor for many areas of our lives. Ask yourself, 'How do I treat people who have a positive influence on me?'
