One of the latest entertainment features is Pocket Dish, brought to market by EchoStar. Devices are designed to make it easy to access videos, music, games and photos anytime and anywhere. With three different versions of PocketDish, it is possible to store up to 40 hours of programming, 20,000 songs, and 400,000 images.
Movies and programs can be downloaded from DISH Network DVRs or other devices and viewed in a car, waiting room, or friend's house. Each device comes with a rechargeable battery that allows 4 hours of pre-recharge. Music and photos are also easily downloaded to access favorite songs and fond memories anywhere. With music playback only, the battery will last about 12 hours before it needs to be recharged. Another feature of PocketDish is its ability to play. Mind jokes, role-playing games and adventure games are all accessible in one small package.
Currently three versions of PocketDish are on the market. AV402E is an entry level version and offers many features. It has a 2.2 inch LCD screen on a device measuring 4.2 to x 2.4 to x 0.7 in. The 20GB hard drive provides 20 hours of video storage, 10,000 songs, and 200,000 photos. This version does not have a built-in DVR, so video editing should be transferred from selected DISH Network DVR players. Audio and images, however, can be transmitted to any compatible source.
The AV500E is a mid-range version of PocketDish, offering more features than the AV402E. Price almost doubled, the 500 offers an additional 10GB of hard drive space and DVR power. This device, with 30GB of storage, can store about 30 hours of video, 15,000 songs and 300,000 photos. It also has a large 4-inch LCD screen and larger body size. The biggest difference, however, is its ability to record programs on any TV, satellite, cable box or VCR. Because it is a DVR, it can be connected to a television to play any of the recorded games on the big screen.
The most advanced version is the AV700E. It has the same DVR capacity as the 500, but includes 40GB on the hard drive, allowing 40 hours of video storage, 20,000 songs, and 400,000 photos. It also has a 7 inch screen for easy viewing. Both the AV500E and AV700E come complete with remote control, docking station, removable battery and stand.
For all PocketDish models, editing can be downloaded free of charge from compatible DISH Network DVRs or other devices. If USB 2.0 port is used, one hour setting can be downloaded within 5 minutes. PocketDish can be connected to the receiver without a compatible USB connection, but the download time will increase to 1 hour per program. All versions allow software development via satellite or DISH Network website. Also, PocketDish provides parental control keys to allow parents to limit child access to inappropriate programs.PocketDish combines the power of several audio and visual devices to provide multi-functional and portable technology. It offers many benefits of satellite TV in a hand-held format, as well as storage and playback capabilities of music, graphics and games.
