SAN FRANCISCO – Majority Black-led venture capital firm Minor will debut an offering today with a $203 million institutional round for investments in healthcare, social justice and technology. The firm, led by CEO Christopher Minor, is a part of Minor LP, a pool of African American wealth and family office investors and entrepreneurs. "We are proud to launch our first fund with support from family offices of Minor LP, who collectively have more than $5 billion in assets under management. These investors are excited to support Minor LP and Minor LP's portfolio companies with us in the expansion of our business," said Minor, who previously founded investment firm Minor Equity, which invested in 12 companies.
Minor LP is the largest African American family office in the U.S., managing over $6 billion in investment capital. A representative of Minor LP said that as of last fall, Minor LP had a record $1.9 billion in the Closed End Fund and $7.2 billion in real estate assets. Minor LP was founded by real estate mogul William J. Ellerbe, Jr. The firm is currently managing over $4.5 billion in family offices. Minor LP recently committed $125 million to a new venture capital fund.
The offering of the Minor LP's fund comes at a time of significant growth and success for Minor LP. The firm, which was originally started in 2009, has received recognition and praise from some of the most successful investors and entrepreneurs in the country. Major Minority LP invests in real estate, infrastructure, and technology, with a focus on serving underserved communities.
