MAIN TIPS FOR WEIGHT LOSS AND FOODS

"Why bother changing my eating habits?" you may wonder. After all, we do live in the richest, most sophisticated, and medically savvy country in the world, with the best doctors, research, and facilities. Even if there isn't a cure right now, there must be one just around the corner. Every year, approximately 1 million Americans die as a result of heart disease, which often goes undetected for years. Diabetes type 2, a disease directly linked to a lifetime of poor food choices, weight gain, and lack of exercise, is on the rise alongside obesity. Obesity affects not only adults,   but also children. Typically, by the time you realize that a disease or condition is endangering your health and life, there is no magical cure, and there will never be a cure; only so-called "management."

Months receiving treatment for a condition or disease caused by a lack of good nutrition?

Eating right, like exercise, does not take time; rather, it gives you time when it counts, at the end of your life. Not only that, but proper nutrition and regular exercise improve your ideal weight, optimal level of energy, health and fitness, and the quality of every precious moment that life has to offer.

It's fascinating in this culture to see what we consider to be too radical.

We believe that eating fruits and vegetables is too radical. We believe that eating a fresh, green-leafy salad every day is too radical. We believe that eliminating meat, cheese, white sugar, white flour, white salt, processed foods, and extra oils from our diets is too radical. We believe that exercising for one hour every day is too extreme.

If eating fruits and vegetables is too radical, how about removing a breast or a testicle due to cancer? What do we call being irradiated or poisoned by chemotherapy? What do we call being completely paralyzed on one side as a result of a stroke? What do we call having a limb amputated due to diabetic-induced gangrene?

And what do we call having our chests buzzed open by a saw and our rib cages ripped apart to repair an artery in our hearts? What do we call being confined to a nursing home because we grew old far too quickly by failing to take care of ourselves by eating health- and life-giving foods and exercising every day?

And we consider eating fruits and vegetables to be too radical?

Perhaps it's time to reconsider what's radical and what's simply common sense, completely doable and enjoyable once we put our minds to it. Perhaps it's time to recognize and overcome the big "yeah, but" or "yeah, buts" that sabotage health and fitness and could deprive us of the opportunity to live a long life full of energy, hope, mobility, activity, purpose, and inner joy.

Perhaps it's time to strive for optimal health on all levels—physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual—and cherish every moment of this precious and fleeting gift known as life.
