How losing weight is all about what you gain

Many people think about losing weight for years, but often they fail. The reason many people think about it so much is that they know that the extra pound is not good for them at all. The problem is that just knowing that being overweight is bad is not enough to get many people to do something about it. People don't quit smoking the way they want to quit, even if they know it's bad for them. But if you find a really good reason to quit smoking, as your doctor said, you could lose your lungs next year and just take action if you don't quit.
Well, losing weight is like quitting smoking. The more reasons you have, the more likely you are to act on and achieve them. If you have something that drives your motivation, besides being bad for you, once you get it, you're also more likely to stick to your weight loss goals.
Losing weight basically means getting healthy. When you lose those extra pounds, you significantly reduce your risk of all conditions associated with heart disease, stroke, cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes and joint stress, as well as being overweight. Reducing these risks means you are much more likely to see your child grow up and enjoy their grandchildren. This is a good reason to lose weight.
Another reason to consider losing weight is that it makes you feel better. As you start shedding extra pounds, you will find that your energy levels increase. Being overweight at 20 pounds is like carrying a bag of 20 pounds of potatoes on your shoulders all day. Excess weight robs you of energy, as excess fat is just an additional burden that you have to carry every day. For this reason, obese people tend to be less active and more likely to store fat. As they progress, they become even less active, creating a virtuous cycle leading to obesity.
As a small side benefit, weight loss looks good, and who doesn't want to look good? Each of us has an idea of how we want to look. Most people are not completely satisfied with their appearance. You will always find something you don't like about yourself and overweight people that you want to change. This can be a great motivation for losing weight. Recent studies have concluded that overweight girls have lower self-esteem as early as five years of age than normal-weight girls.
When people lose weight, how do those around them who know them react in most cases? You will hear the following: looks normal; have you lost weight? And think about how you would feel if you lost enough weight to fit into the dress or pants you wore in high school. A beautiful appearance is a good reason to lose weight, but it is not the only one.
If you have at least some good and solid reasons for wanting to lose weight, it's much easier to motivate you to start and keep doing it. Honestly, your health, well-being and self-esteem are very good reasons to lose those extra pounds and get rid of them forever.
