Footprints on the moon
One This Days Early Brother, Two Man Made History. They visited a new world, one after the other and entered into each other's warmth.
In July 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first man to set foot on the moon. When Armstrong and Edwin "bus" Aldrin walked on the moon, about 600 million people around the world watched. As he took his first steps and left his mark on history, Armstrong's voice returned to earth, "... a small step for one man, a great leap for humanity."
Ambition
In 1961, US President John F. Kennedy set a national goal to land a man on the moon and bring him safely to Earth. In 1968, Apollo 8 and its crew orbited the moon and returned safely. The next year, Apollo 10 came close to landing - it's like a real costume rehearsal. These two voyages paved the way for a successful landing in July 1969.
The target is the moon
When the Apollo 11 spacecraft exploded from Cape Kennedy, USA, it contained three astronauts, Armstrong, Aldrin and Michael Collins. The trio traveled over 3.86 lakh km and covered that distance in about 76 hours. The lunar block built for landing is called the eagle after the national bird of the United States.
When the eagle landed in the Pacific Ocean, there were only 30 seconds left in the fuel. Armstrong landed first, and soon Aldrin joined him. The two spent more than two hours exploring the surface, collecting rock samples and data, and operating the Collins spacecraft from behind.
Return
On the moon, the astronauts left the American flag and board, in which "humans first set foot on the moon from Earth. July 1969 A.D. We came to peace for all mankind."
They left Earth and fell into the Pacific Ocean more than eight days later. After that, 10 more men walked on the moon, leaving their footprints there forever.
Quick facts
Apart from the earth, the moon is the only place where humans have set foot.
The Moon's gravitational pull is one-sixth that of the Earth, which is why astronauts jump on its surface.
30 Earth-sized planets correspond to the distance between the Earth and the Moon. The moon moves slowly from Earth, about an inch away each year.
The Moon makes the Earth habitable, moderates its oscillations on its axis and makes its climate relatively stable. Long ago, there were active volcanoes on the moon. None of them have exploded for millions of years.
How Long Do Footprints Last on The Moon?
The first traces placed on the moon will probably last a long, long time - probably as long as the moon is there.
Unlike the Earth, the Moon is not eroded by air or water because it has no atmosphere and all the water on the surface is frozen. Also, there is no volcanic activity on the moon to alter the surface features of the moon. Nothing was washed, nothing was folded back inside.
However, the surface of the moon is attacked by changing meteorites. A small spacecraft can easily destroy the footprint on the moon. Since the Moon has no atmosphere, it is exposed to the Sun's air, a stream of charged particles coming from the Sun, and over time it acts like Earth's weather to destroy the Moon's surfaces, but the process is much longer. Slowly.
