The chief minister of Delhi and leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Arvind Kejriwal, is expected to be detained on Thursday morning following raids at his home by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), according to information the party received.
Leaders of the party Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Jasmine Shah made the accusations after Kejriwal ignored the ED's third summons to appear before it about the'scam' surrounding the Delhi liquor policy.
AAP leaders have begun to gather at the party headquarters amid concerns over Kejriwal's incarceration and the ED raid at his home. Conversely, Kejriwal's home was under increased security. The ED called Kejriwal in for interrogation on Wednesday about a money laundering case involving excise policies. He ignored the summons and responded to the probe agency, indicating that he was prepared to assist with the inquiry. But he referred to the notice as "illegal". The Delhi Chief Minister was to be arrested, according to the AAP, and they sought to stop him from running for office. Additionally, it claimed that the government did little to stop corrupt leaders and that it intended to arrest the opposition leaders.
The AAP has insisted that Kejriwal will be arrested ever since the ED summoned him. 'Main Bhi Kejriwal' is a campaign launched by party leaders to get public feedback on whether the Chief Minister of Delhi should step down in the event of his arrest or continue to head the government while incarcerated.
Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, two of Kejriwal's associates, are already incarcerated in relation to the Delhi excise policy case.
It wouldn't be incorrect to argue that Kejriwal is scared today because he is aware of his impending arrest, his role as the kingpin, and the fact that he lacks an explanation for any of the ED's inquiries. Gaurav Bhatia stated, "He is attempting to avoid the legal system because of this."
Shehzad Poonawalla, the national speak person for the BJP, stated, "Today, Arvind Kejriwal has again eschewed the third summons. This indicates that he is running away like a criminal because he has something to hide."
