Are Job-Hopping and Career Success Correlated? What effect does one have on the other? How long does it take to stay in the company? I have to admit, I'm convinced that it's very common to lose my job because of the resumes on my desk.
Job seekers do this for a variety of reasons. Often they do not know what they are doing. Sometimes, they do not know what they want and are not ready for the challenges they will face. Job-hopping and career success are interrelated.
In my opinion, leaving a job can negatively affect career success. Consider this, what signal are you sending to your potential employer if you do job-hop frequently?
Two-year rule
I have a two-year rule to tell my employees and potential employees. This is a two year rule - you must be mentally committed to spend at least two years in the company before leaving the company. The reason is this; You have to deal with the learning curve. If you do job-hop too often, you will not learn anything important.
In my case, it takes you at least a year to learn the ins and outs of a company. Then another year before you can finally get really productive in adding value to the company. It will take me at least two years to see the real results of your contribution to the company. So, if you have a chance to quit and career success is on your mind, it's time to reconsider.
I am training you
Most well-established companies have training programs. They are ready to invest in fresh graduates and freshmen. However, he will have to look at his past track record to make that decision. Ask yourself, if you are a manager - what is your chance of investing more training time and money? Is anyone showing job-hopper and job-hop tendencies or who is consistent? Companies have the opportunity to invest in fixed ones. The reason is simple. They can contribute back to the company. Everyone wins. If you are constantly quitting the job, you will be sent signals that you are not ready to stick.
Companies like to invest in people who see their career goals in line with their corporate goals. Job seekers usually do not see their career path beyond next year.
Reducing the incidence of job-hopping
One of the best ways to quit a job is to know exactly what you want. Once you realize this, you will only focus on achieving your career goals. However, it can be understood that it is difficult to know a fresh graduate or new person at work. You may be interested in some other industries.
If there are other areas you are interested in, plan to explore them. Start with the internet and ask friends who know people in those areas. Talk to them; Ask them about company expectations and the role you are in where you are interested.
You may not have all the answers but at least you get some idea. This will reduce your chances of getting a job.
Learning is a major goal
If you are new to the workforce and looking for some time for a job, here is my advice to you - find what you really need. Once you know this, find a company that is ready to train or how they will prepare their employees for their careers in the long run. If they have structured training programs, join them.
Your main goal is to learn relevant skills and knowledge in that industry. The skills and knowledge you have learned will contribute to your career success in the long run. This is something you can bring with you for the rest of your life. Once you see the benefits of sticking to a company that has been willing to train you for more than two years, you will not be able to get a job often.
